You don't say...

From CBS 2:

If you live in the city and you “ordered in” recently, there’s a good chance the rider who delivered your food broke the law.

Delivery riders make up an estimated 45 percent of bicycle traffic in Manhattan and there is a widespread feeling that they are among the biggest violators of the rules of the road, CBS 2′s Tony Aiello reports.

Hunter College Professor Peter Tuckel has compiled some facts to backup those feelings.

Tuckel sent 60 sociology students onto the streets of Manhattan to document bicyclist behavior. Those students observed over 5,000 cyclists and found a disturbing trend.

Tuckel says the delivery riders were consistently the worst offenders of traffic rules.

“About 37 percent of the cyclists ran through the red lights, and an additional 25 percent or so paused at the red light and then continued to go through the red light,” Tuckel told Aiello.

The study also found that on streets with bike lanes, riders failed to use the lanes almost 30 percent of the time.

The Hunter College study also found 17 percent of bike riders went the wrong way on one-way streets. In addition, a whopping 75 percent of nighttime bikers lacked the headlights and reflectors required from dusk to dawn – when almost half of bike fatalities occur, Aiello reports.

an ill timely placed umbrella can make any skiptard bicyclist launch.

If ya cant hit 'em head on, you can relly fark 'em up if you act awkwardly and pretend to get in their path.

If you are more bold, a well timed shoulder bump sends 'em flyin.

If they are followin the law, respect them. If they arent, exercise your rights.

lmao those delivery guys are more than likely undocumented and don't understand the rules. As for the ones who ride and know, knock them off their bikes! And last, maybe the little troll mayor should start handing out fines to these people. If I can get a ticket for not wearing my safety belt, they should get one for not wearing a helmet.

Our Mayor supports illegals as he employs them himself I suspect and obviously his rich friend s do too. After all if he gets caught there is only a small fine to pay and deportation for his slaves.

This is Bloomburg's Sanctuary City. As long as he is in power, he will protect all the illegals. He welcomes them with open arms and let's them do whatever they want without penalty. He has instructed the police department to have a "hands off" policy. The rules don't apply to them. They only apply to American looking people. Therefore, we get harassed and get all the tickets, yet they have a free pass to break the laws on a daily basis. Bloomburg wants us to leave NYC. This way he will have his very rich friends in Manhattan and the outer boroughs will have all his cheap labor and slaves.

The cyclists in the street are just as dangerous. Many of them ignore traffic laws.

Every day I walk from 67th Ave Austin to Yellowstone Blvd (112 Pct) and every day almost get hit by the minimum of three bikers I feel like a bull fighter. Also the same on Queens Blvd.

Yes, one half delivery men but rest yuppies and teenagers.

Also stand in front of the 112 Pct and you will see eight out of ten drivers going through red light or on cell phone.

Our sidewalks and roads have become the Wild West.

So If bike riders have to stop at traffic lights, does that mean that they can also take up a spot in the traffic lane? Or do they have to drive near parked cars and get hit by retarded drivers who are parking and don't look before opening their doors.

Hey they just drive like the worst drivers in the country with motor vehicles. NYC drivers can be counted on to red lights at every intersection everyday of the week. But yes the delivery guys are atrocious at driving just as the other guys with thousands of pounds of metal.

deport the illegal alien bike delivery boys and then ban bike riding and bike cabs from Manhattan.

then deport LINO to Havana ,Cuba.Castro will love him..

Deport them home to their country of origin, since it is so difficult for them to adjust to our culture of traffic and driving laws. It's overwhelming for their non multi cultured brains.

Seize their bicycles and give them to homeless children. It's obvious those Chinese delivery people are using stolen bicycles.

Xenophobes unite!!!

Ah, the intersection of xenophobic bigotry and hatred of bike riders! This is rapidly turning into Queens Crap's specialty. Too bad, such a missed opportunity.

Xenophobia? Bigotry? Hatred of bike riders? I think not. We just don't condone their behavior.
