Happy Independence Day from Queens Crap!

The artist's largest flag painting should be finished today. Click here for video.

New York's first Independence Day celebration was actually 5 days late.

They probably don't know the customs of these holidays. Why don't you go and offer them a flag.

A few years ago there was a piece on the evening news about a guy doing just that someplace west of the Hudson. He went door-to-door and explained to the newcomers and things took off from there.

BTW: The newcomers that I meet out in Bayside are mostly from So Korea and Greece. Not exactly "communist".

Here are a couple of links to American Independence Day celebrations in, of all places, my second home Thailand:

And Phuket:

Thailand is our oldest ally in Asia but Thai people will take any reason for a party.

I'll be returning to my battered second city (BKK)for a time next month.

you're obviously really NOT from Bayside - its population is EXACTLY what Lino said it is.

those from the OLD Communist BLOC countries reside in Glendale - Rego Park, Middle Village . . . from there per chance?

That's funny! You all are assuming that because this person lives in Bayside, the demographics of his/her particular block must match the overall demographics of Bayside. Interestingly, there was a story not too long ago about an Armenian Church in Bayside - something about a day care center vs a playground. Also a lot of Chinese moving in. So I guess there are residents of communist countries living there despite what you have deluded yourselves into believing.

God Bless America is corect - what I want to know is why the 111th was sending scores of cops in SUV's,patrol cars and even undercover cars stopping patriotic residents of Auburndale, Bayside and Whitestone from setting off fireworks - Utopia Pkwy as dead - not one person set off any fireworks - they even went up and down the street on broadcasting no fireworks - But come the Chinese New Year - no holds barred from Asians celebrating with fireworks - what gives?

Because (idiot) these amateurs don't know what they are doing and one jerk actually blew off his entire arm with a sort of home made bazooka this past 4th.

The Asian celebrations are -organized- and -supervised- by people who know how to handle fireworks and the FDNY is often on-hand for the larger displays.

I remember when people used to throw fireworks into the crowd for the Macy's show, it often resulted in a stampede that could have ruined the evening.

Things are a bit over policed now, but at least no one has to dodge some asshole's bottle rocket that went off course.

Wearing "patriot" on your little tee shirt doesn't make a responsible person.
