Halloran foe tickets woman changing tire

From CBS 2:

The traffic agent accused of terrorizing Queens residents is the source of more outrage.

CBS 2 first told you about Agent Daniel Chu, who was ordered to undergo sensitivity training for badgering drivers. Now, there's a new complaint that has some calling for his job.

There are some things you just can't change, and too-big-for-his-britches Traffic Agent Daniel Chu appears to be one of them.

"I'm very angry. I'm very annoyed that someone like that works for the city, that our tax dollars pay for someone like that to be employed," Tammy Fox, of New Rochelle, said.

Tammy Fox is Agent Chu's latest victim. She was in the dirt near Elmhurst Hospital, trying to fix her flat tire, when Agent Chu sauntered up. Instead of offering help, like most New Yorkers would, he slapped her with a ticket.

"I said to him, 'are you kidding me? You're very insensitive. I'm going to visit my friend in the hospital who had cancer, and I'm trying to fix my flat tire, and you're standing here writing me a ticket?'" Fox said.

Tammy hit the nail on the head when she used the word insensitive. The very day she got the ticket, CBS 2 told you that NYPD brass docked Chu's pay and ordered him into sensitivity training for a raft of run-ins with the public and Queens Councilman Daniel Halloran.

"Apparently, the sensitivity training didn't work," Councilman Halloran said.

One of only thousands upon thousands of out of control city workers.

From traffic agents, NYC Police, FDNY to deranged sanitation workers.

This city has been a pile of shit ever since anglo saxons left it in droves 200 years ago.

She was taking up a parking space. Let her pay the quarter.

Maspeth Mom says...

He is looking to get fired - then he can sue NYC for discrimination or some other trumped up nonsense. I am sure he is not as dumb as he acts.

The only way to deal with a pint size bully behind a tin badge like this guy is a good shot in the mouth! Then he will go home cryin to momma!

What alternative universe does this reporter inhabit? Most New Yorkers think they're way too busy (they're not!) and way too important (they're really not!) to help a stranger in need.

Rarely does one witness small acts of kindness here. It's all "get the f* outta my way" - oh wait - that's just the Italians in Whitestone, Bayside and Flooshing!

Sadly to say, she should have put money in the meter. In NY you have to expect the worst in everyone - it's not a great place to live anymore.

Was that before or after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Well to be fair, if she was a marginally attractive white or near white woman, every homeby that passsed by would have flashed their phony charm and would have "helped" her.

It's too bad, because there's a lot of legitimate parking tickets out their that need to be written, and aren't. Motorists are getting away with way too much!

i thought this ass was in whitestone? now he's over here near elmhurst? lmao someone will kick his ass.

But who determines who should get written and who shouldn't? Anyone can come up with an excuse after they get a summons, and with that excuse, they can generate sympathy for their plight. Not saying that's the case with this woman, I just mean in general.

I think Chu sees this as a win-win: As long as he's working he gets to spread his own version of misery and terror around. And when they want to fire him, he's collected a portfolio of "evidence" that it is not "for cause". I agree with the earlier poster, that he needs to choose his victims carefully because the game he plays does lead to explosive outbursts of rage.

I think its not just the Italians that deny to help other New Yorkers. and its really impressive to know that one reader on here experienced city life 200 yrs ago before the anglo saxons left.

Transfer him to Flooshing and see if he's just as eager to ticket his own Chinese countrymen (and women) who are always breaking traffic rules.

Methinks maybe he doesn't like the "round eyes" and is using his post to punish them.

Anonymous said...

Find out where he lives and give him 4 flat tires!

Anonymous said...

So Chu got transferred from column "A" (Whitestone) to column "B" (Elmhurst).

He needs to be taken off the menu or put into an egg roll then flushed from the department.

Anonymous said...

He should be fired. Two bit dictatorial jackass. Not much different in mentality than the Kapos in the WWII concentration camps.

Give an Asiatic an ounce of authority and they will abuse it. Fire his ass already.

But it is not his fault he is carrying out a policy of "Zero Tolerance" coming from Bloomberg. All traffic agents are to write any ticket they can. Doesn't matter what the excuse. Administration feels if the excuse is legitimate then a judge will dismiss the ticket. Don't blame him blame the liberal administration.

in order to correct a comment error on which enemy nation bombed our U.S.Navy base at "PEARL HARBOR" prior to declaring war with Japan on12/7/1942,i must be pardoned for being off topic.

we declared war with Germany a little later.

at the time germany, soviet union and japan and italy were considered the axis war nations.

when hitler(germany) invaded the soviet union (communists),the U.S.S.R. became allies of the allied nations. the U.S.S.R. in 1950 then aided N.Korea and China in invading S.Korea .

"Liberal administration"? The BLOOMBERG administration? - surely you jest.

Anyway - I agree that it's NOT just this smuck and that this behavior is encouraged.

People don't always fight their tickets - they just pay them, and the city is counting on that extra revenue. Notice now even when you do fight your ticket - rather than finding you "not guilty" they will fine you LESS - this is supposed to make us feel vindicated - of course is doesn't - but, some college educated moron in the system THINKS it should.

We should harrass them - shout out obscenities to them or something - then pretend we weren't talking to them so they can't ticket us or worse. Even if we just see them coming down the street in the car - give them the finger - and if they challenge us about it - we can say we were just checking the direction of the wind . . . something like that anyway.

Something OTHER than just fighting our tickets should be done.

Babs said...

"when hitler(germany) invaded the soviet union"

fck Hitler already - we talking Bloomberg here.

typo - "we're" talking . . .

Oh no I do not jest, Michael Bloomberg is a Full Blown Liberal Democrat and all of the administration is left over Dinkins and Koch Democratic flunkey’s. His policies are all democratic liberal policies. He is an elitist like his friends on the Upper East Side. He has no concern for the working man and woman in NY. I am just a source of revenue you for him and his feel good policy friends. They say: tax them and plant a million trees or build a park over some highway on the upper west side or shut streets down and put chairs and tables and every other stupid idea these morons can come up with to spend my hard earned taxed money. Traffic officers are just tax collectors for the mayor.

Babs said...

Sarah - he's very pro-market and sound on fiscal issues so I see him more right of center. He also endorsed Bush's re-election in 2004.

He may be more Democratic on social issues such as abortion, immigration and gun control and likewise with domestic issues such as immigration - but to call him a Liberal Dem - I don't think that's accurate.

Babs said...

Also - I agree that he has no concern for the working class - but, neither do Republicans. The middle class pays for EVERYTHING. The GOP took 8 years to wipe the Middle Class out offMiddle-class Americans--not the riicially

Neither the rich nor the poor pay the majority of annual tax revenues taken in by the federal government.

Babs said...

typo AGAIN - can't talk and chew gum at the same time!

"wipe the Middle Class out OFFICIALLY".

Sarah said...

Sound on fiscal issues are you kidding me he raised taxes and fees on us more than any other mayor in history. The only pro market he is, is his own, creating 20 billion in wealth from 5 billion when he first became mayor. And the bush endorsment was taking bad medicine for him he fully supported Obama and Hillary. He's a lib.

Like I said I was in the car in Astoria waiting for a lady to pull out and I got $115 ticket the woman gave me her cell # I fought the ticket, the "investigator" never called her and I had to pay. Only the Councilman or an elected official could have won that battle, not us Pee on TAXPAYERS/VOTERS/"FREE CITIZENS"

OK, let's try to remain grownups about this.

There's a lot of abuse of white middle class people in Northeast Queens, don't kid yourself. Kids are getting ticketed for walking through a neighborhood playground after dark. If they don't pay right away or appear for a desk ticket appearance without a parent, the fine goes from $25 to $135. The kids are not even loitering. If the Parks Department finds neighborhood kids so undesirable, they should padlock the damn playground at night and not harrass kids who are really minding their own business!!

Precisely, the comment was indeed meant as sarcasm. It is a paraphrase of a line from the movie "Animal House", in which Jophn Belushi's stoned out character attepts a motivational speech and asks, "was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?".

Sarah - "The only pro market he is, is his own, creating 20 billion in wealth from 5 billion when he first became mayor."

Bloomberg governs with a pro-business platform. He is in favor of providing tax breaks to big corporations in the "guise" of course that doing so it good for the community. Bloomberg AS MAYOR lobbied to the CEO of Goldman Sachs to establish their headquarters across from Ground Zero by promising $1.65 billion in tax breaks.

He's a Republican.

Someone in the media once called him a "serial party-switcher" and I think that pretty much sums him up the best.

Your using Goldman Sacks as an example that Bloomberg is a Republican. You have to remove your head from the sand and pay a little more attention to the relationship of the Obama administration and Goldman Sacks. Bloomberg is many things but he has no republican values or does he want any. Before being Mayor he supported only dems. He is a Liberal. To Babs: who's wiping out the middle class 10% percent unemployment and 0 % growth or 4% growth and 4% unemployment?

What an ignorant (even bigoted) statement. You obviously haven't been 'flooshing' and if you haven't you shouldn't even make a statement like that because you don't know what the F--K you are talking about so just shut up, you igoramous anonymous bastard. If you have been to 'flooshing' then you are blind which might explain for this ignorant statement. Either way, you should've shut the f---k up. Either that, you don't own a car or drive it to know much about ticketing.

Asian or non-asian ticket agents will ticket you IF YOUR METER EXPIRES for just 30 seconds (which they will put down for as 1 minute). I know because my friend, who's chinese, gotten ticketed by another chinese traffic agent and I saw the whole d-mn thing in action. He complained and end up with no result.. the agent just ignored him.

I also seen a chinese traffic agent purpose block/stopped traffic on a small road so that he can get out and go to all 4 cars who had been double parking and give ticket to all of them... and this is in 'flooshing' where it happens that all the victims are chinese.

I had seen similar things happen in Jamaica where blacks agent ticket black agent.

Key thing is, ticketing is a game to them..and I also wonder if they get commissioned off of it.
