Untying the knot before tying a new one

From the Daily News:

THE STATE will try to untangle one of Queens' most horrific traffic knots this spring, reconfiguring the Van Wyck Expressway to cut down on accidents and congestion.

The first phase of the project, expected to cost between $100million and $150million, will target a half mile of the heavily-trafficked north-south roadway between 82nd and Hillside Aves., officials said.

Plans call for extending a northbound merge lane between Hillside Ave. and entrances to the Grand Central and Jackie Robinson parkways.

Workers will also replace the 82nd Ave. pedestrian bridge and equip its substitute with ramps to match requirements for the disabled.

It's all part of an ambitious, long-term revamping of the so-called Kew Gardens interchange, where the three major highways meet the teeming intersection of Queens Blvd. and Union Turnpike.

What a colossal waste of money, since the city and state are pushing full steam ahead with a plan to add ramps to the Van Wyck which will worsen the traffic. Honestly, the Feds need to look into this, but they'll probably sign off on all this stupidity, too.

Isn't there a certain point where people simply can't fit on the god damn Van Wyk any more. They can add all the ramps they want twice a day the thing will be a parking lot no matter what.

"Untying the knot before tying a new one"

By the look of your headline, I thought this article was about our state's byzantine divorce laws.

If Granny Shulman and "the little duke" of Wellington Chen's TDC get their Willets Point hand job pushed through the Van Wyck's new ramp systems will become a Ghiordian knot that even Alexander The Great couldn't cut with a sword stroke!

Suggested new name for the Van Wyck Expressway:

The VAN WICKED!

And will Wellington Chen bring in TDC's Chinese coolies to do the new roadwork?

What will be Parkside and Shulman's cut off the top of this boondoggle be (if "granny" lasts that long)?

Claire's lookin' like shit these days!

(LOL) The Van Wyck will be backing up like a toilet all the way to Kennedy Airport with the increased traffic resulting from Wilpon's folley at Wellington Pointe!
