College students living in illegal conversions

NY1 VIDEO: Residents who live in Queens neighborhoods surrounding campuses such as St. John's University and Queens College say that a number of students are living in off-campus illegal apartments.

Shocking!

The DOB encourages this practice throughout Queens as this is a Bloomberg mandate.

You are allowed to have "boarders". An illegal conversion is not necessary - all that a college student needs in a decent-size room is a small refrigerator, hot plate, microwave - OR they can have use of the kitchen too - shower is shared ;)

Doesn't anyone know the meaning of the word "illegal" anymore?

Thank you RE brokers agents house flippers and associated scumballs...for jacking up the price of housing so much the only way to actually pay a mortgage ON TIME is to have illegal apartments.

You close these down and the "homeowner" will have to file for BK...or be foreclosed on...

Just Another consequence of the mass insanity of high home prices.

It's supply and demand. Let's hope you know how to exit safely in a fire and no one dies in the process of putting out a fire in these firetraps.
