Police Make Arrest in Two Far Rockaway Rapes

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police have arrested a 23-year-old Queens man in connection with two rapes in Far Rockaway.

Police say a 25-year-old woman was followed as she got out of a subway at Beach 67 around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 27. The suspect flashed a gun and told her to obey or he'd kill her. Police say she was raped in an alley behind a church.

The second victim, a 21-year-old woman, was waiting at a bus stop around 5:20 a.m. on Oct. 28 when she was also approached by a man with a gun. She told police she was taken to a top-floor building landing and raped by a man wearing a green hoodie and bandanna covering his face.

Charges are pending against Malcolm Johnson.

Police say Johnson was arrested after matching his DNA to that recovered at the crime scenes. They say two illegal handguns were also seized at Johnson's home.
