Barron calls hearing attendees "segregationists"

A Council Land Use Committee was held yesterday about the proposed Maspeth high school and after SCA reps spun their lies for a 1/2 hour, Councilmember Charles Barron told the members of the public who attended that they were trying to "turn back the clock to the 1950s," called them "segregationists" and said he was looking at a bunch of white faces saying they wanted to have the school priority zoned so only their white children could attend it. Then he got up and left.

If he had stayed and listened to the testimony, he would have found out that no one was there to testify about having the school priority zoned. Approximately 25 people testified against the site location selected due to factors such as traffic, proximity to other schools and lack of public transportation and parking availability at the site. One person testified in favor of the school (without mentioning local zoning). Councilmember Elizabeth Crowley was the only person who pushed for local zoning for the school.

So apparently the white folk of Queens County were racially profiled by an elected official. But by Charles' standards, the only racist in the room was his colleague, Elizabeth Crowley.

Of course, this was said by the same person who at one time uttered, "I want to go up to the closest white person and say, ‘You can’t understand this, it’s a black thing’ and then slap him, just for my mental health."

And the Democratic Machine unsurprisingly has no problem with this.

It's a shame that in the era of "change" someone still has the mentality of a 1970s Black Panther. Who's the one that's really in favor of turning back the clock?

I want to be shown the public high school, middle school or elementary school within New York boundaries that has primarily white faces.
This would be a wonder to behold.

I want to know who is passing the envelopes to Barron, and how much he is personally benefiting from slandering the residents of Maspeth and forcing an unwanted High School down their throats.

By the same token, we could wonder how an industrialized moonscape with no transportation like much of Maspeth is has become the land of opportunity for Black youth.

I have a feeling that non-Maspeth youth would run for their lives upon being told this is their new school.

I am sure many parents will be camping out in front of school offices for many hours like my sister had to do when her child was relegated to a bad school to keep something like this from happening.

Anonymous, public high school, middle school or elementary school within New York boundaries tha has primarily white faces? Look no further then Nassau county where schools with out a doubt are racially segregated. Look at Old Westbury (East Williston School District) vs. Westbury School District for a prime example. This is true for most schools in Long Island at least.

So now Charles Barron, who has been supported Queens Crap in the past, is bad because this time he said something you don't like. ha . . .

Queens Crapper said...

"Supported" is a bad choice of words. He was commended when he voted against eminent domain abuse. The way it usually works is you are praised when you do something good and chastised when you do something bad. Maybe you didn't grow up that way, but I did.

Nassau county is part of NY?

----

Barron the coward left the room after calling the residents of Maspeth, MV, Glendale segregationists, racist? He was to yellow to stay and hear the rebuttals?

He now needs official, public censure.

Quinn, what are you going to do?

This cheesy coward called Elizabeth Crowley a racist segregationist. I say that he is the ignorant, cowardly (all racists are cowards) segregationists, who thinks (if it's called that) that honest people are knocked off balance once they are called racist.

Quinn, time to denounce this freak!

I am sorry I was unclear. I was talking about New York City. We have no jurisdiction over Long Island and our taxes don't pay for their schools.

"So now Charles Barron, who has been supported Queens Crap in the past, is bad because this time he said something you don't like. ha . . ."

Yes, do you mean like a certain former councilman, with a pinkish hue, who people actually voted for until he kidnapped, raped and abused a grandmother?

Barron is a Sharpton wannabee.

Perhaps not a brilliant thought, but doesn't it save money for young people to be able to walk to school? Doesn't it mean that the student can stay after school longer for extracurricular activities?

Perhaps someone should talk to the MTA and tell them how much money it will save them not to have to put new routes in to get teachers, staff and students to this new school...

...oh, that's right ...the MTA is going to raise the fares and expect the people to stay in NYC with the high cost of living!!

Why is it we need to be upset at being called segregationalists. Do the people in Barron's community want to come to a school in Maspeth to get away from disruptive "outsidrs" in their local schools? or from the delinquents of their community? Tell him he's right, we want to be segregated from what makes the public schools in his district shitholes. As for the Nassau comment that's correct white faces in white areas, blck in black etc, etc., If you live elmont you don't go to school in Manhasset, sounds logical, no? Did he provide any sound logic for busing kids in from all over? Long commutes for school kids can not be good for their academic success.

Well, that is what you get Queens by sitting around with a stupid smile when someone calls you an 'Archie Bunker'. See how far you get if you go into a black community and utter 'Sambo.'

The point is the people of Queens have a reputation as being sheep.

Look how the abuses of the clubhouse heaped upon you, and all you do is reelect them.

Do you think any local newspapers will say anything? (Hell no, they are to busy selling real estate to enrich developers who dont even live in Queens to care)

Do you think any local politicans will say anything? (I like the dodging of local responsibility in true Queens fashion when you invoke Quinn)

Do you think your community board will say anything? (sorry, that was a low blow)

Do you think any civic will say anything? (hey QCC we mean you)

Of Course Not! You get what you deserve and until you have the backbone to stand up to these people they will say this again and again.

@##&*@@!# losers.

I was at the meeting yesterday and Mr. Barron stated what did we go back in time? no he actually never left. If Mr. Barron would of done his homework before opening that sewer mouth of his. he would relize we are a community of mix backgrounds. We have black, white, spanish, asian and so on. So I would like to know, who on the SCA paid him to come in before the meeting started and yell such nonsense. I want everyone to know he was once part of the BLACK PANTHERS and he is still stuck back in time. Change starts at home and I know I'm not a racist, nor are my children. Also everyone should know that "MARGE" from the "BIG SIX" came in and also and called us a bunch of racist from Maspeth and Middle Village. One she doesn't live in our community and second according to Liz's proposal that moron's children wouldn't be able to attend this HS due to she's not in our zip codes. Also she is the one that opposed the STEVEN'S site when SCA wanted to put a HS, what's the problem MARGE you don't want it near the BIG SIX? I think her community should know what she did to our community and how she's bringing attention to the BIG SIX because they asked what was and we told them it's a "GATED" coop buildings. To to the parents who wanted the school over here because you didn't want your children to travel on two buses, well your asking other communities to do the same, it sounds a bit selfish to me. And also property values go down when you are surrounded by schools. So Liz should really stop filling your heads with lies, it's a fact property values go down. When Mr. Barron called us a bunch of racist our council women didn't even call him on that and she has the mic to do it, we the people in the room aren't allowed to question or comment on his remarks and the pig that Mr. Barron is, he didn't even stay and hear the people. Thank god his seat is up in December and I really hope his community finds someone that is more sincere to the people of all race. I believe the city has to start doing more in background checks on the council seats and the same with community boards, it's amazing when you look up names and find out how crooked some are. I'm not insulting the entire BIG SIX and I'm a family of union workers, it's just a shame you have someone living among you that is so cruel to you neighoborhood communities. Marge should be so ashamed of herself, she was the only one as she claims representing the parents of MASPETH, which is a joke in itself.

This racist, convicted felon, piece of crap needs to be slapped out of office now.

yes your correct and the city should be doing more to protect all people of all race. let's just pray that his community relizes what a piece of shit he really is and gets him to shut up NOW..... i think america has come a long way since then and for him to call a race card is a joke in itself and same with that women from the big six, MARGE..

I though the mantra of QC was build more schools, build more schools, so much development and no schools. Well here it is and you don't want it? you guys should be out in force instead you respond the way you respond against any proposed development
and complain about transportation and parking. Face it you don't want to see any development at all.

Queens Crapper said...

Multiple alternate sites were proposed, including ones within the Maspeth community. So you don't know what you are talking about.

Anonymous said...

Marge stood behind me the entire time making snide remarks about of the speakers as they testified. Then she had the nerve to complain when others did it to her. What does she expect?

LINDA said...

we have a lot of developing in our community and that seems to be the problem with queens entirely. they keep allowing builders to destroy communities and then we need more schools. we should preserve what we have left. our mayor is also one to blame he's one of the developers who use non union workers. it's a shame but since we have the only two airports, yes queens is where everyone floods to. so don't blame Maspeth because we don't want the school, SCA was given two alternative sites and guess what they're going to take them too! SCA and the UTF does not care about communities, why aren't they out there supporting all unions when the schools go up and yes there are NON UNION workers doing the jobs. We don't have the MTA buses to bring in more children, we are already flooded over with the schools we have and yes SCA was given sites thats accessible to trains and buses. SO STICK THE SCHOOL UP YOUR ASS! OH BY THE WAY ELMHURST ALL THE WAY UP GRAND AVENUE HAVE MANY SCHOOLS, CATHOLIC, LUTHERAIAN AND PUBLIC SO WE HAVE ENOUGH ALREADY...

There is a longstanding issue with Maspeth and schools.

No location is ever good enough. You want schools just where its nice for you (as far away as possible). I hope Frank Lloyd build a 25 story pile of crap there to teach you a lesson.

The most offensive testifier was Marge Kolb who said that Hispanics here for 2 or 3 generations were more acceptable than new immigrants. This from someone who lives in a gated community.

Queens Crapper said...

The PS58 location was not appropriate for the same reasons this one is not. It's only a block away, genius.

Anonymous said...

Thanks Linda for confirming what I alway knew about Queens Crappers - when it come down to it you are all NIMBYs. The Virgin Mary herself could propose a development project and you would all be against it.

Anonymous said...

And everything that was predicted that would happen with PS58 came true and none of the promises that SCA made back in 2000 were delivered on. We're stuck with ridiculous parking, transit, traffic and school bus problems. Hey, let's do it again!

Anonymous said...

If not wanting my community to come to a standstill at dismissal time and being able to board my local bus so I can commute to and from work makes me a NIMBY, then so be it.

Notice that Marge didn't ask for a high school in her community, but wants it in ours.

Until you stand up for your rights, and stop taking people spitting on you, you are simply wasting your time.

This is an excellent opportunity to voice outrage in a system that has not only let you down, but it seems doesn't even think your honor is worth a comment.

So go ahead, let this excellent opportunity to draw attention fto a sysem rotten to the core pass.

Go ahead. Comment on local personalities and local school this and that.

No one important cares, or is even listening.

And they will not until you grab them by the balls.

LINDA said...

WELL WE HAVE A DELVEOPER AMONG US. THAT'S RIGHT WE DON'T WANT YOU OR ANYMORE SCHOOLS GOING UP. WE GOT PS 58 AND WE GOT ALL THE HEADACHES WE FOUGHT ABOUT, SO IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOUR READING DON'T COME INTO QUEENS CRAPPER SITE. ALSO POINTING OUT, IS 73 WAS PROMISED THAT BUILDING IS 5 WOULD TAKE THE BURDEN OFF OUR COMMUNITY SCHOOL, DERR IT HASN'T AND NEVER WILL. SO CALLING ME NAMES PLEASE, GET OVER YOURSELF, GUESS YOU DON'T LIVE IN MASPETH TOO. I BELIEVE WE DO NEED MORE SCHOOLS, JUST THAT IT'S ACCESSIBLE TO WITH TRAINS AND BUSES. AND SCA AND THE DEPUTY MAYOR STATED IT'S OPEN TO ALL OF QUEENS AND THROUGH OUT THE CITY. SO KISS MY ASS.

LINDA said...

OH! BY THE WAY COUNCIL PERSON LUI CAUGHT SCA IN SO MANY LIES. MR LUI PROPOSED A SITE IN FLUSHING THAT WOULD BE NEAR TRAINS AND BUSES AND SCA LOOKED LIKE A BUNCH OF MORONS SITTING THERE. SCA LIES TO ALL COMMUNITIES AND THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SCHOOLS GO UP.

Maybe the placement of the school in this location is intended to diversify. Maybe that is the big picture plan with all the new schools construction. Maybe that is why those in charge who know the plan will ignore those who do not and do as they please. Maybe this whole public theater is just a charade. Maybe its all been decided already. Maybe that is why Mr. Barron came out in front and played the racist card to quiet down the protestors. Maybe we are all being punked.

Anonymous said...

SCA did not know of this site until, angela the ex president of ps 58 pta, wanted to have an annex to this school, she was hoping to change the school to k-8which failed. now that she's not the president of the pta really don't see much of her in the community. so with her opening a can of worms all we got left with is SCA, UTF and MR BARRON, dumping on maspeth. It's wrong of the city to always pull the domain crap on owners of properties and SCA was given alternative sites, in and around Maspeth. The topic is this racist man that never came into our community to call us the racist. Also, Marge from the big six has some nerve to call us that too. Hey Marge stay over on queens blvd and the big six we don't want or need you in OUR community.

What is so wrong about wanting our kids to be able to walk to their high school instead of paying for public transportation. Am I a racist for wanting to save money and not clog up the streets with more cars. Is anyone forgetting that many high school students drive to school?

Anonymous said...

Perhaps Mr. Baron should have taken the time to walk around P.S. 58 and see that it's white population is approximately 30%. What a moron!

Anonymous said...

first of all thanks to our mayor and deputy mayor there are no more local schools. every new school built has a educational theme. they believe all children should travel to school and your child is not special. why would it be fair to give maspeth, middle village a local school, while all other communities have to travel. sometime in our childs lives they will have to learn to travel, it's part of growing up and getting them ready for college or work. it's rude for anyone to ask for their child to have a local school and then expect everyone else to travel.

Anonymous said...

Marge Kolb is a nasty, angry and disgraceful "woman." And I use the term "woman" loosely. The hypocrite Kolb keeps fighting for schools in Maspeth but never in her Woodside neighborhood.

Anonymous said...

Who is Ms. Kolb? How many children does she have in the school system? Where do they go to school? What are their ages? She probably sends her kids to Saint Sebastians, but has her nose in issues that don't concern her. Perhaps a letter writing campaign to her will make her understand that the logistics for this school in this neighborhood is just wrong. There is no transportation to support this school. There is no parking to support the staff. There is no parking to support the older students who drive. The property would have to be taken by eminent domain. Finally, the area in question is saturated with schools and children. You have IS73, PS 58, St. Adalberts, PS102 and I believe the Board of Ed sends kids to the school on Grand Avenue that was once Ascencion. Count them up. They are all on or a block off Grand Avenue -- a two way street. Why can't the powers that be use some common sense and use the alternative site in Woodside. Marge could send her kids there. It's closer to her house. She's on Queens Boulevard (Big Six) and the school would be on Broadway, which would be closer for her children to travel.

Charlie Barron deliberately created anger & fury with his uncalled for comments to the Maspeth/Middle Village & residents/business owners who attended a meeting regarding the construction of a proposed HS in Maspeth. Thirty people attended a meeting to voice their objections to the LOCATION of a proposed HS. The beliefs of these people regarding the SCA's chosen site is that it's not feasible to the community. It was and still is a site problem. These people are not "segregationists or racists" as Mr. Barron inferred but honest hard working folks who didn't deserve to have the vomit, that constantly spews from his mouth, directed at them. He is, without doubt, the biggest racist I've ever come across. His venomous words do more harm than good. I guess he hasn't heard the President's message about "CHANGE".
He needs to be centured by the entire Council. Why, I ask, did Ms. Crowley, who spoke with such care about her constiuents from Maspeth/Middle Village, just sit there and never defend her councilmatic district. She allowed this man to verbally abuse the very people who voted her into office. Shame on you LIZ!!! You should have said something in defense of the horrific assualt this lowlife put upon your district. Remember that come Nov.!!

Anonymous said...

It was no accident that Mr. Baron was there to call Maspeth residents racists. It was deliberate. Someone wants to build this school badly and hoped that Mr. Baron would spew his racist crap on the locals and make them look bad by turning this into a racial issue. It's a saturation issue. It just shows how in tune the City Council members are when it comes to local issues. The are totally clueless. By the way, that includes Ms. Crowley. She's in the pocket of the Teacher's Union and wants the school built. What a sham!

What amazes me is that this site is truly the dark side of the moon, yet a man who would consider himself a "race man" would take up his cudgels for this site.

It is isolated, ugly, polluted, poorly served by public transportation surrounded by graveyards on all sides.

I hate to knock anyone's neighborhood, but Maspeth is one of the ugliest areas in Queens. I am sure that their are many fine families living their with warm friendships that span decades, but what is the attraction to outsiders?

Keep this in mind:

He is no different from the ignorant, hate-filled racists who formed the KKK. Those same democrats whose party he now loves.

Makes one wonder what's in the head and heart of this Obama who is also trampling on the law and constitution.

Your very question contains the obvious answer. Maspeth residents clearly place family, friends and neighborhood way above glitz and glamour. Visit Maspeth next month for it's beautiful Memorial Day parade! Make sure to have your camera.

He had the audacity to mouth off in the room but would never have had any where near the same amount of nerve outside of the building because his teeth would have been all over the place.... However, he left the room for a time-out , perhaps a very long bathroom break, and then re-entered the room to vote I -for-all in a very important city council couple of topics , all the while, not even knowing what he was voting on!!!!1 The man is exactly the reason why this city is in the predicament that it is in and perhaps should look himself in the mirror and wake up and smell the coffee.... It's not imperative anyway because he will be ousted at the end of the year.....That day a 250 Broadway was a classic example of the "monkeys running the zoo" Our City Council is an embarassment however John Liu deserves alot of credit for standing up and defending the lewd remarks of that animal charles barron. The only regret of the people in attendance that day is that cowardly son of a gun didnt stay in the room to listen to the testimony of people of Maspeth who are proud.
