The sad story of the dogs started in June when ASPCA Special Agent Joann Sandano was called to [Kwang] Lee's home after a neighbor found Willie, a 9-year-old Pomeranian, bleeding and barely conscious in the street.
Lee didn't bother to bring the dog to a veterinarian, despite the fact Willie was unable to walk or stand, Pentangelo said.
It's not clear how the dog was injured, but veterinarians said he likely was hit by a car.
It just shouldn't happen to a dog ... Ex-owner facing fine, jail for cruelty
"He was in excruciating, significant pain," Pentangelo said. "He had a dislocated hip. Without medical care, he would have died."
Along with his injuries, there were signs the 19-pound pooch had been neglected. Veterinarians had to remove two of his teeth because of severe dental disease.
When Sandano entered Lee's house, she found other animals, including Albie, a Chihuahua whose leg was bent. ASPCA veterinarians determined it was an old break that had never properly healed.
Lee faces up to $4,000 in fines and two years in jail.

This is plain sad.Hopefully this pup has someone who will take him in and make life safe and loving
OMG how could anybody let this happen. Just think, if they could treat animals like this, how do they treat humans!
Someone should put this guy in the middle of Queens blvd. and let him get hit and then just leave him there. That would be perfect for a POS like that not a fine or jail time. Well maybe that too.
I am so glad that these dogs got rescued. But what about the thousands of other pets that don't?
:(
It would be great if they had some sort of reward program for reporting animal abuse. I wonder if they have that. A nice payout would encourage many to stop looking the other way when they see animals being starved, beaten or killed.
Animal and child abuse bother me the most, because they are defenseless. Glad to know that there are concerned people who make a difference (at their own cost) like the tattooed fellows profiled in the NYtimes http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/24/nyregion/thecity/24pet.html
Kwang Lee should get the maximum sentence and I hope he is beaten by Bubba and his boys in Rikers.
I never knew Asians to be good pet owners. Come to think of it, I don't know of one Asian I've ever seen with a pet.
These people had been asked repeatedly by neighbors to walk the Pom on leash prior to the accident and to get the poor dog some medical attention after the accident. The Pom was badly wounded, limping and walking around off-leash (STILL!!!)for more than a week prior to its rescue!!!!!
There was also an emaciated Chihuahua and 3 gerbils (in a bucket!) locked in their sweltering garage!
Animal abuse/neglect is rampant in Flushing. It's very common to see little dogs running around off leash with no collars or licenses. They're treated with less concern than a designer handbag. The puppy mill-supplied stores should all be shut down!
People! Hate 'em!
