The Great Queens Mosaic in Jackson Heights

The Flamingo is famed in its Queens neighborhood as a place for lonely men to dance with scantily clad beauties for just $2 a song.

But several former dancers at the Jackson Heights night club allege they were treated like virtual slaves - forced to work hundreds of hours a week without pay and to endure abuse and humiliation by the owners.

Seedy Queens club made us slaves, dancers claim

"It is an outrage and it's shameful the way these women have been treated," said Councilman Eric Gioia (D-Queens). "To me, it's shocking that these sort of labor practices are happening in America in the 21st century."

Outside the club yesterday, bar manager Aridio Herrera was unapologetic.

"We didn't do anything wrong," Herrera, 29, said. "Our customers don't speak any English, so we don't care if it's in the paper."

By the way, who the hell edits the Daily News Queens section? Check this out: "City officials said the working conditions violated labor laws, city officials said." Crappy says the Daily News editor sucks, Crappy says.

Does a guy named Gallagher own this place?

It seems like a perfect spot to abuse women. Isn't that Gallagher's specialty? And, he can still earn an income by swiping the money.

Yet another example of our 'vibrant' communities 'revitalized' by immigrants.

Remember this the next time you see this drivel in any Queens weekly.

It's probably the same Daily News guy that wanted a picture of St. Saviour's being pulled down by a bulldozer.

...speaking of the Queens section, doesn't the Daily News put out a separate local paper featuring the borough. I only spotted it twice, last year.

Queens Crapper said...

It's inside the regular paper on certain days, Ken.

thanks. Never read the Daily News, or any other city papers, but would pick up a copy for the Queens installment...to supplement my reading of Queens Crap, on occasion.

In a multimillion-dollar lawsuit expected to be filed today, several former dancers, bartenders and waiters contend dance hall owners Edith D'Angelo and her husband, Luis Ruiz, violated labor laws and treated them inhumanely, according to Make the Road New York, a community organization representing the employees.

What's the story here? Those names don't seem indicative of "whitey"! There's no "oppression" going on!

Move along folks, nothing to see here other than "vibrant diversity" in action!

The slogan of the tweeded everywhere is:

War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Ignorance is Strength
Diversity is Strength!!!

What is this place promoting - cheap $2 cop a feel cheap thrills? Kicking the tires before the real deal? You gotta be kidding me - more to this than meets the eye or what the artical focused on - gimme a break. Exploitation of the unwashed, illegals by their own folks is what this is. How many dances @ $2 to make up to $300 a night?

Sounds like inovative illegal activities for the illegals - the feds should stand outside the doors each night.

Ok folks...here's the REAL story...Edith and Luis own two houses..the one in Bayside is being renovated. They bought it for $670,000, tore it down and are building a new one. By my calculations, they are into this thing for over $1,000,000. There is no way this house can sell for that sooooooo, unless they move here (God forbid) might it not be a money laundering thing? Someone, Tony Avella where are you?, should look into this.

Jake LaCrapa, that stuttering dumbass attorney for Councilrapist Dennis Gallagher, would like to live in the basement here.

He actually tried to get his thug friends to speak on his behalf but the owner stood up to those wannabees.
