Such a sad story. Has there been a rise in construction accidents, or have they simply been highlighted in the media lately?

This was an unfortunate tragedy
but there is no reason to slow up
the speed of development in our great metropolis.

We must continue to compete
with the other world class cities around the globe so that New York City can maintain its position
and we can be ready to meet our quota of being able to accept
one million more residents
by the year 2030.

We cannot let one accident
get in the way of future progress.

Way to go Commissar and Lancaster.

Is this what is called managing the attrition of the working people?

OK it's a stretch, but I'm starting to see Bloomy in the Yul Brenner role in the movie the "Ten Commandments"
Doesn't care about the cost to anyone as long as he gets what he wants.

The man who died was Kevin Kelly and he was 25, my family is close with his, this such a tragedy.

These luxury condos ought to have memorial plaques with the workers' names to remind the residents of the lives sacrificed so that they can live in luxury.

Maybe QHS can redesign their "Queensmark"in the form of memorial plaques to honor those who died in
Mayor Bum-berg's rush to over develop
New York City!

Isnt this Queenscrap? Everyone should mind their business and focus on whats important - Queens.
As for the DOB, dont let them fool you, they are just rattling sabres after the crane incident all this talk of violations is bullshit - its like alternate side parking, when you go to a job that size you can find a million reasons to give someone a ticket - its just another way for the city to make money.
Scott Stringer is an asshole, Someone should string him up.
I work for EFCO windows, this was just an accident, plain and simple, no safety regs were scirted. The concrete failed, thats it. If you want to blame someone, blame the carpenters who installed the i-hooks.

We're taxpayers of New York City and citizens of a supposedly free United States and therefore will comment at will, thank you.

Oh. The "concrete failed". That failure. That's an OK failure. None of our business.

Where was Bloomberg and Lancaster and the inspectors seeing to it that the "concrete failure" just wouldn't happen. It did prove to be a fatal failure, Commissar!

Oh, yeah. The worker who was killed wasn't wealthy. He had to work for a living. So, why should the Commissariat worry about non-billionaires? Billionaires are very important. Non-billionaires are just stains on balconies!

Accidents happen.
Sometimes cars crash, sometimes people trip and fall.
Sometimes accidents can be avoided.
Sometimes accidents cannot.
This is one of those times where the accident could not have been avoided.
It is horrible what happened to that young man and I am sure we all wish he was still alive, having a beer on Bell Blvd but working in construction is not one of the safer jobs you can have in the category of being a fireman or a police officer.
Sometimes unfortunatly accidents happen.

It sounds to me that substandard (improperly cured) concrete might have been the culprit of your so called "accident".

We're talking about human life here fella and I don't care who the F--k you work for either bub!

This worker's death is NEVER to be considered acceptable collateral damage!

A horses ass is a horses ass....
and brother you sure as hell
sound like one Mr. EFCO!

His wake is tonight, April 17th,
7:00 P.M. til ? Frederick's Funeral Home, 192nd street & Northern Blvd. Auburndale (E. Flushing), Queens...I knew him as a child...he had a large extended family...his mom died of cancer when he was 5 years old...I used to tell him when he was little that he was my favorite Kelly...he had the most beautiful golden complexion, freckles, red hair, and greenish eyes...he had a beautiful open smile for everyone...this was an accident that COULD have been avoided... the greed and those who care more about construction completion dates than they do about the safety of their workers are at the bottom of this...his sisters lost their mother, now their brother...very sad...thank you for letting me vent and mourn a good man... from Star Pollack
