Hotel for Jackson Heights

From Brownstoner Queens:

A tipster sent along this DOB application for an 11-story, 50 unit hotel proposed for 37-23 72nd Street, just north of Broadway. The property is currently a two-story structure (just left of the empty lot); the application is for a major addition to the already-existing building. (An 113-foot building is really going to stick out here, huh?) The proposal is for 14,280 square feet of hotel space, with 5,880 square feet designated to a community facility.

Homeless shelter?

It seems that privileged Jackson Heights is not immune from some Flushingization. Too bad...another fine nabe gets screwed. Expect more before Der Wilhelm Di Blasio is through. Think of all those vibrant cultures who will be staying in the hotel. Hey, isn't it Queens the World's borough? LOL!

be careful it just might be a homeless shelter -- they do everything very very sneaky for sure -- the city pays landlords in private homes for this also -- someone should try to contact their counselman danny and see if he knows anything or see if he is telling the truth !!!

How is it legal to build 11 stories there?

On Google Earth 72 St has the density of the Bronx without the charm.

Hotel makes sense. It will provide a nice profit for the owner and great dining choices (New Halal Meats and Grocery, Juju Bagel, Mumbai Grill, Rasjbong Sweets, and Dosa Delight) and shopping (Apan Bazaar Cash & Carry) and your local hardworking forward thinking councilman, Danny Drumm just a few steps away on the next block.

An excellent place for a hotel - the experience of abroad at home. Dollars accepted and English (mostly) spoken and just a short train ride away on the 7 to the real world outside of Queens.

Vibrant! Diverse! Stupid!

This is an underhanded plan for DeBozo to mix the poor with the lower middle class. He said it in his campaign speeches and now he is implementing his plan. I'm sure Forest Hills can expect the same very soon.

Whoa...wait a minute....you will have to wait forever now to catch a #7 train that you can squeeze into. Queens does not have an adequate subway system that allows for super development.
