No booze for you!

From CBS New York:

The New York State Liquor Authority has confirmed to 1010 WINS that it has denied a controversial liquor license to a proposed Long Island City strip club.

Last week, local politicians and community activists mounted an effort to block a request by the Gypsy Rose on 21st Street to have its liquor license renewed.

Had the license been approved, the Gypsy Rose — which is located near the southern side of the Queensboro Bridge — would have opened its doors to the public.

Local politicians ignore local activists unless they want them to provide a smoke screen for their own agenda.

This is prime development territory. It was okay to have this here until the developers wanted to clean up the area for their investments.

I would rather have a strip club then the waterfront blocked by buildings warehousing hipsters.

For a nondescript venue as this is, as compared to the numerous other up front, large signage joints, I'm curious as to why all the ruckus. There's gotta be a backstory here. Watch. Somebody with juice wants this property.

Where are illegal aliens supposed to work now? you are taking jobs away from single mothers from South, Central America and Mexico. less remittances to send back.

I'm so sad for the day laborers. they will have to stay in the ghetto they've created in Jackson Heights and Corona. They will have to get drunk and walk around the Al Queda sympathizers.

You horrible Americans discriminating again against illegal aliens.

Funny, how you are so against the developers, but when the developers help their own agenda by hampering other business you don't like you seem to be happy about it.
Hypocrite.

Who are you talking to? Personally, I don't give a shit about a strip club at Queens Plaza, but its interesting that the electeds do.

Your headline "No booze for you!" sounds like you are happy about this establishment not getting its liquor license. It is not a neutral headline. It conveys emotion.

The title is a spoof of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. "No soup for you!". Sorry the joke went above your head.

Suna and their 'job creating waterfront access project' that in plain language a wall of 50 story skyscapers bringing in 1000s of people in an area that cannot support a few hundred.

You can be sure that Jimmy No Brainer and Mystery Man Mike G. will be a warm advocate for this - after all, career building needs 'juice'.

It's hard to convey the cadence through written word. I'm sure I'm not the only one who didn't read it with the soup nazi's voice in mind.

It's funny now that you put in context.
