It's official: Meeks is under investigation

From the Daily News:

The House Ethics Committee announced for the first time yesterday that it is investigating Rep. Gregory Meeks for possible ethics violations.

The Queens Democrat is under a federal investigation that focuses, at least in part, on a $40,000 loan he received in 2007 from a Queens businessman.

As the Daily News previously reported, he failed to disclose the loan on his required financial disclosure forms for two years - and only paid it back once the FBI started asking questions.

It's unclear if the ethics committee inquiry is related to the loan.

While there are corrupt republicans, it seems the number of dems that just ignore laws is way higher.

simple observation.

Congratulations to all the dumb voters who reelected Meeks last year!

"socialism is a philosophy of failure...."

Well, its keeping you alive, old man....Maybe it is a failure.

It's funny how you only respond to what the "old man" posts and never offer an original comment as to the substance of the posts. Looks like you have a problem there.

listen "LEFTY", it is excellent geneology and wisdom with financial safeguards ,that serve me in my senior years.

i paid into F.D.R.'s Involuntary Social Security program during my labor life and it's benefit now is mine.....

As well it should be, Gramps. You earned it.

Anon no. 8:

How helpful would your "excellent geneology and wisdom with financial safeguards" be without your Social Security benefits?

Those of us who chose "commissioned sales" as a successful CAPITALIST route, earned much in our productive years.

The result is a secure senior period and excellent quality of life.

No government handouts were needed.

if you don't produce ,you don't eat.
remember John Smith at the Jamestown, Va. colony.

COMMUNISM /SOCIALISM FAILED AT JAMESTOWN. REMEMBER ,LEFTY ?

I'm not that old, and I'm right-handed, Gramps.

However, I do remember how difficult it was for people to survive without these programs before they existed - even if they worked hard their whole lives. I'll bet there are a lot of people here who realize that, regardless of what end of the political spectrum they're on.

You, on the other hand, sound like someone who understands nothing, who has no feeling for other people. In fact, you sound pretty numb to everything.
