Pols in cars think they're above the law
From Huffington Post:
According to the D.C. Taxicab Commission, Habteab was right, and Nadler should have paid the full $8 fare upon arriving at the hotel.
Instead, Habteab says the congressman refused to pay unless the meter remained running. When the driver called the police to settle the situation, Nadler reportedly jumped in another cab and drove off.
In response to the accusations, Nadler's office released the following statement: "This whole situation was just a misunderstanding and we are working now to resolve it. Everyone will be happy at the end of the day."
Following the incident Habteab complained, "Who is going to follow the law if the congressman does not follow the law?"
And from the NY Post:
State Sen. Eric Schneiderman -- a candidate for attorney general, the highest law-enforcement post in New York -- was involved in a minor car accident outside the New York 1 studios in Chelsea and then fled the scene, the cable news station reported last night.
NY1 said the Upper West Side Democrat was a passenger in a car driven by a staffer who sideswiped a vehicle parked in front of her on Ninth Avenue Monday night and pulled away without leaving a note.
The staffer was identified as Rachel Kagan, 22-year-old niece of US Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan.
A passing bicyclist who witnessed the incident jotted down Schneiderman's plate number and remained on the scene waiting for the owner of the damaged vehicle, who turned out to be NY1 executive editor Melissa Rabinovich.
She contacted Schneiderman yesterday demanding an explanation.
"He told me he had disciplined the staffer. But he was also insisting that it was just a bump and not a moving violation," Rabinovich said. "I told him, 'Your car was moving and then you drove away. A total stranger realized you damaged my car, but you didn't?' "
Her 2008 Chrysler Town & Country sustained damage to the rear bumper and rear panel and a broken tail light. The station put the repair cost at about $3,000.

Wasn't DC Cab a movie w/ Mr. T?
the law only is enforced for the "little people" who pay the taxes for the liberal elites.the cases will be avoided or dropped .heavy inside political pressure will be put on the ny 1 employee to walk away.
the main stream media will censor this news.
God bless ,what is left of America .
How about BP Marty Markowitz flouting the 500 foot rule for amplified sound permits for over 20years at Asser Levy/ Seaside Park.
They make the laws , but when it comes to them obeying or following the laws NADA.
22 year old staffer? Nepotism for the win.
AHHH HOW THE EMPIRE IS FALLING, IS THIS NOT HOW ROMAN SENATORS BEHAVED BEFORE THE END???
THE STAFFER IS THE NEW SUPREME COURT JUSTICES NIECE. WHATS THE WORD FOR THAT AGAIN?????
Hey - Anonymous #2:
As per Webster.com, elite means:
the choice part : cream, the best of a class
So thanks for the compliment!
He's banging her! Sounds more like nip-o-tism.
it sure was "classy"to wreck a persons car and run away, without leaving your phone number so youcan pay for the damage that your "cream"employee did.
these "liberal elites" can not claim any honor and decency with their actions in this situation.
we really need a n.y.s.attorney general who behaves this way......NOT.....
he will not get my vote.....REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER.....
he showed us his true character.
Looks like John E. Sweeney disappeared from peoples memory because this is nothing new at all. That guy had refused to pay a cab fare and had three DUI's besides being buddies with Abrahmoff and the Cayman Island crew. Par for the course on both sides of Isle.
