New York's federal pork barrel projects

From the NY Post:

Big Apple-area lawmakers are asking for $1.5 billion in federal funding for local pork-barrel projects, records show.

Among the requests are money for building scenic areas along highways, restoring "historic lighting" in Brooklyn Heights, and trying to convince South Bronx residents to eat better.

The eye-popping price -- for what are called "earmarks" in congressional-speak -- was made public for the first time this year, as all members were required by new House rules to post them on their Web sites.

SPEND SPEND SPEND, EVERYONE WANTS THEIR SHARE IN THE SPENDING. YES WE HAVE OUR SPECIAL NEEDS FOR PROJECTS, BUT SOME OF THE PRICES ARE A BIT OUT THERE DON'T YOU THINK?
