Independence Party endorses Bloomberg

From the NY Times:

The New York City Independence Party voted overwhelmingly on Sunday to endorse Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg for a third term after he vowed, in private and public remarks delivered just before the vote, to try to establish nonpartisan elections in the city.

If re-elected, Mr. Bloomberg — a Democrat-turned-Republican who dropped all party affiliations two years ago — would be the first independent candidate elected to lead the city.

Um, haven't we "been there, done that" already? Voters rejected that overwhelmingly years back. And if you want non-partisan elections, why do you have a party in the first place?

The "Independence Party" is a joke.

What a shame! All I can say is SHAME, SHAME on you! Are there any persons in politics with even an ounce of integrity left? How much did he promise the leaders for the endorsement? Wow! It just seems so sad to me.

The city party is controlled by Fred Newman and Lenora Fulani. The Times and Daily News reported Bloomberg promised at the very least a quarter million dollars before Newman gave him the line.
