This past Friday, AM-NY's cover story was about 10 historic New York buildings that are now eyesores. Only one in Queens is mentioned, although we know there are plenty more candidates. St. Monica's and the Richmond Hill Republican Club come to mind immediately.

The landmarks law is an eyesore that should be cleared off the books.
St. Monica's is not an eyesore anymore. With support from Greater Jamaica Development Corp., York College has kept the facade of the old church and turned it into a day care center for students who have children:

I would say the facade of a beautiful old church building pasted onto the front of a crappy new out-of-character building still qualifies it as an eyesore.
