Dag Nabbit between the crooked polititions and "hot air" the last thing we need is more dam beans in the neighborhood. I can’t friggan believe this!!! ...choking..choking !
Now, you see, if your neighborhood has new vibrant energy (like the Hispanics give to Corona/Elmhurst) this would be great.
Or perhaps, if your neighborhood has new vibrant energy (like all the farm kids moving to Astoria who would sqeal with delight at seeing this) a Mexican restaurant would be great, too.
Do we see a pattern of 'values' that parties unknown are defining for us? Thank heavens we are pushing out the old like Jahns for the new vibrant element.
Hope they vote the right way!
Think they would fight for St Savours? Think they care?
Who you're kidding? Almost everything inside was original! Its replacement will never, ever match up to the brilliant aura. Now we have nothing quite like it in Queens or anywhere in NY, besides the Jackson Heights franchise that is no match architecturally. Darn!
To all the bigots posting here - if Jahn's was so important to you, you should have been going there and spending your money to keep it in business. How are you blaming the politicians for an establishment going out of business?

Sigh. let me take this one on, boys
Easy. By hollowing out a community by denying it services (like landmarking for starters) encourages the clientale that would support Jahns to move away.
Now as for the tweeded, well, you just gush everytime you hear mention of their name. Everything is done to make them feel at home. Need to find a job - let them parade up and down a major business district, need to find a home - make illegal conversions all but official policy.
We can go on but even you, a political hack, from a land where loyalty rather than intelligence is prized, can pick up where this is headed.
"It's all gone now"....... should become the new rallying cry of the Richmond Hill Hysterical Society..... following in the footsteps of the weak kneed QHS's ancient historical"sages"!
The preservation movement needs fighters.... not archival scrapbook keepers of lost memories!

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. Rule #1 in photographic composition: get a clear view of your subject. (What's with the tree in the front?...back the car up a bit.)

That is the point as to why the clubhouse is hollowing out these neighborhoods.
Disgusting the way a hard working public servant like Gallagher is being treated. Now look at Sabini.
HIS constituents are soooo much more polite to him! Their needs are so simple. No messy noise or sanitation complaints there.
A politician's dream. Their respect for bossman so ingrained.
It's best that this pale imitation of a Jahn's ice cream parlor disappear, so as to not be confused with the genuine article. RIP Jahn's.

The Jackson Heights one is no prize either - just a typical coffee shop with some Jahns trimmings.
Interesting to note how this passing of a major Queens landmark is all but ignored in the press.
But boy oh boy, get a third world festival in Queens and crank up the press - cut down the forest.
Look at the bright side; I can go to this hiring hall to find day laborers.

I'm lactose intolerant anyway!
