Shulman back to her old tricks again

Crain’s New York Business has an eye-opening article, reproduced below, questioning the propriety of Claire Shulman’s local development corporation (LDC) instigating the re-zoning of 60 acres of Flushing waterfront property, and the LDC hiring the NYC Department of City Planning as a subcontractor.

However, nowhere does Crain’s mention that this isn’t the first time that Shulman’s LDC has attempted to influence a re-zoning – and its prior attempt was deemed unlawful by the NYS Attorney General.

Crains 6-29-15

You wouldn’t know it from the Crain’s article, but Shulman’s LDC has already illegally attempted to influence the re-zoning of Willets Point property. Re-zoning is legislation, and all local development corporations are prohibited by law from attempting to influence legislation. After a 3-year investigation, NYS Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced in 2012 that Shulman’s LDC had “flouted the law” in the Willets Point re-zoning, and Shulman’s LDC signed a stipulation that it would never do it again. The NY Times reported that Shulman’s LDC admitted its illegal activity, as did the NY Daily News:

NYDN 7-3-12

Crain’s does not report that history, or mention AG Schneiderman's prior finding of illegality by the LDC – instead giving the mistaken impression that the LDC’s rezoning of Flushing waterfront property is an isolated case. But it isn’t. It’s the LDC’s second re-zoning attempt – after the first has already been deemed illegal.

If, as AG Schneiderman has already determined, it was unlawful for Shulman’s LDC to attempt to influence the re-zoning of Willets Point, then it must be no less unlawful for Shulman’s LDC to now attempt to influence the re-zoning of the Flushing waterfront.

All of which begs the question: If AG Schneiderman was satisfied in 2012 with a wrist-slap for Shulman’s LDC, what will he do now if he finds a repeat offense? As the saying goes: “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”

If NYC Planning, Shulman's LDC and the involved developers are so confident that there isn't any wrongdoing in their scheme to re-zone the Flushing waterfront, that the whole thing is above board, then why are none of them willing to be quoted for this Crain's article?

NYC Planning: No one willing to be identified in the article.
Shulman: No comment.
TDC Development? "… did not respond to requests for comment."
Leasing agent for Sky View Parc: "The agent declined to comment."

Their unwillingness to speak on the record about this re-zoning scheme looks like what prosecutors call the "consciousness of guilt."

It's a shame that City Planning Director Carl Weisbrod allows his agency to prostitute itself, taking $800,000 to do as Shulman's LDC requires. Is Weisbrod even aware that Shulman's LDC has already been deemed guilty of illegally influencing re-zoning of Willets Point, by Attorney General Schneiderman? Why is Weisbrod allowing City Planning to climb into bed with such an organization? If City Planning wants to re-zone Flushing property, they should not do it aided and abetted by any LDC (all of which are prohibited from attempting to influence re-zoning which is legislation). This Crain's article has 'Preet Bharara' written all over it. Hopefully the activists press the issue with him, big time.

Have they finished the orange jumpsuit for that old hag's prison vacation?

Shulman eagerly learned her trade at the feet of her corrupt boss, Donald Manes.
Queens College should confer an honorary degree....Dr. Claire Shulman , doctor of corruption CHD!
She will out live her conviction and avoid going to jail.
Where will the money stowed away in her offshore accounts, if there are any, wind up when she " has shed her mortal coil"?
Let's speculate on that.

Look at that face. Inscribed upon it are the lines of every betrayal and crooked deal which that bag full of assholes has participated in.
If there is a Hell, the most skillful attorney will never be able to litigate her out of serving eternity in it.
In the meantime, we all long to see her in an orange jump suit to serve some earthly time in a federal lock up, and not a comfy club fed!

Did you ever wonder how her daughter, Dr. Ellen Baker ever got to be an astronaut? Not that Dr. Baker was not qualified for that job.
I will bet my last dollar that Shulman's pal former congressman Gary Ackerman put up Ellen's name on the list to go up in space. Then surely he used his influence to see that it became so. Now what did Shulman have to pay Gary and friends back with? She owed them a lot of favors. Firstly she helped establish a Chinese colony in Flushing. The Chinese supported an enormous amount of political campaigns, either above or under the table. Tommy Huang was the poster boy here and enjoyed very close relations with Queens borough hall, just to begin with. So now that TDC,, a Chinese company, wants to develop Willets Point, everyone looks the other way. Lawbreaking is just a small cost of doing business, especially if nobody ever winds up in jail. See how it might all fit together very well, now? Think on it all a bit.

With our luck, Claire (born 1926) will die of old age before serving any jail time.

At least Helen Marshall seems to have quietly disappeared from the public stage. Why can't Claire just go away, too?

"The Academy of Camera Lens Shattering Arts and Sciences proudly announces their choice of the ugliest mug ever to be photographed.
Would borough hall's lensman, Mr. Totino, please step forward and accept the statuette for Claire Shulman? Thank you sir".

Note:
A special ballistic plastic lens was used to record the former borough president's image. Onlookers were greatly relieved that the lens held up and did not hurl fragments into the audience.

I'll bet that England's infamous King Henry the eighth didn't stink as bad as Shulman does , even in his advanced stages of Syhplis.
If this decaying hulk ever passed wind, a mushroom cloud would appear over Queens that would level New York City!
Pew....gag...upchuck! Get me a towel and mask! The stench of corruption can be lethal.

I thought she was dead already. How old is she? Shouldn't she be in a nursing home somewhere? Time to hang it up Claire.
