Parking mess at Flushing Commons

"Came to work this morning and found a sign up regarding the Parking situation. Called the sign on there for monthly parking rates and was told to call: 1-734-771-1685. Forwarded to voicemail with no response. Please help us find out how much everything is so that we can continue to commute. Thank you so much! Attached is the picture." - anonymous

Well, I don't know anything about this situation. But perhaps Peter Koo does since he sent out a newsletter about it.

$16.00 to leave your car and a take a train to work in a borough with erratic bus service????? That's extremely fucked up!

1-734-771-1685 is in Flat Rock Michigan?! WTF do they have to do with parking in flushing?

The lot was making tons of $ money for the City and kept meter maids busy. Why turn it over to a private company, and give up this cash cow?

"Why turn it over to a private"
The City gets the same cut without having to pay meter maids $90,000 a year to baby sit it.
Motorists who work in Manhattan pay $20 a day for parking are forced to pay up, find different jobs or move to the new shitbox towers close to Manhattan.
Its a total manipulation and special interest !!!

I googled that number, 8778762927, and what comes up is a shopping mall parking lot in San Antonio, Texas, one in Virginia, another in Seattle, Houston, Atlanta, etc...

We are all crammed into the five boroughs while our politicians just keep shoe horning more and more people into our already overcrowded neighborhoods. Meanwhile, perfectly good cities like Buffalo and Rochester sit comparatively empty. And don't give me any nonsense about having nothing to do up there. Plenty of good theaters, shopping centers, sporting venues, things to do for kids, restaurants etc in both cities. Plus, a nice one family home just like what you would find in Queens for half a million dollars going up there in decent neighborhoods for about a hundred to two hundred grand. Don't like the snow? It actually doesn't snow as often as people down here like to exagerate, and the plowing system up there pretty much clears every street in a matter of a few short hours. I plan on moving out of Astoria and up to the Buffalo areaby next Christmas, and I am taking a few of my friends from Queens with me. If any of you are just plain tired of continuously being ignored and shit on my our elected officials in favor of foreign development money, if you feel you are getting priced out of your neighborhoods, if you feel that Queens and NYC is becoming one big claustrophobic, cramped overdeveloped mess, then please feel free to join us!

It's official!!!

Flushing's city council representative is Koo Koo!!!

If they put a gate with an attendant at each entrance, can you imagine how badly the traffic will back up onto the side streets/avenues? - not to mention interfering with the bus traffic.

Maybe Joe Crowley can park his car here and take the train to VIRGINIA.

YOU FUCKING MORONS VOTE FOR THESE PEOPLE ?

LMFAO!

This would also likely mean that there will no longer be free parking on Sundays at that lot. There are no city meters on Sundays, but with a private lot, they can charge whatever they want.

Besides taking the 7 subway and or shopping at Modells the only other reason to go to downtown Flushing is to eat soup dumplings at Joe's Shanghai. Who needs to drive there ?
Take the Bus and enjoy the ride and stop worrying about parking your prestige SUV or car.

When common criminals like CB7---Councilman Koo---Flushing BID chose to support the Flushing Commons project---everybody lost in this rigged game of chance.

To the person who said people exaggerate how cold Rochester is and how much snow there is - it is not an exaggeration at all. Rochester is OK in the summer, but it has a long, cold, brutal winter. I lived there years ago.

Yes the cold is brutal, but the snow is plowed up in record time.

It used to be 4 bucks for 12 hours! WTF. I can live with $1/hr up to say $6hrs. and then charge 6$ for 12 hours.. which is fine... but $16?.. anyways..
On the other side manhattan has it worst.. so I guess things change ..inflation and they know parking is underpriced here in flushing municipal... I guess it's better than paying 35 bucks for a parking ticket if you are say 2 minutes late on your meter!

Well I was the one who sent this to you, but I just called the number and was directed to another number: 800-836-6666. I was told that monthly parking is going to be valet at $225/month

Monday-Thursday=6-11pm
Friday & Saturday=6-12am
Sunday = 6-10pm

its valet parking, which means, if you decide to come back after the closing time, you will not be able to retrieve your car =(
