Doorman's SUV set on fire

From WPIX:

Former New York City Councilman, Eric Gioia, held his 10-month-old baby son in his arms and told PIX11 he’s grateful his wife and three small children escaped an arson fire early Sunday morning.

“We heard a big boom and I opened up his door,” Gioia said, referring to the baby’s second floor bedroom. “And I just saw this huge, orange ball of fire. So I jumped on top of his crib, called my wife, and told her to get the girls.”

Gioia’s family vehicle, a 2007 Mercury Mariner, was enveloped in flames in the driveway on 49th Street, near 39th Avenue. Police say an arsonist deliberately set it on fire, before starting four trash fires within two blocks of the Gioia home.

Two Sunnyside pols hit in less than 2 weeks...

This one was caught.

How come ex-Councilman Gioia, the successor to Walter McCaffrey, was "Missing In Action" at all the recent McCaffrey commemorative events? A no-show at the wake and the funeral.

For someone who was addicted to media attention while he was in office, Gioia has disappeared since being term limited. I had to use Wikipedia last week to see who succeeded McCaffrey because I couldn't remember his name, only his face which used to be all over the place.

I'll bite at that snark. Why call the former councilperson a doorman?

Are all the VP's of JP Morgan getting targeted by arsonists?

Bonus: An account of the 2001 Gioia campaign

His campaign literature used to highlight the fact that he worked as a doorman while he attended NYU. Hence the nickname.

what a surprise.... perpetrator was a black male between the age of 15 and 35. Is Obama going to be saying this arsonist could be my son?
