Another accident at Queens Plaza

From the Daily News:

A Volkswagen flew off a dangerous Queensboro Bridge exit ramp Saturday morning, injuring two people in the same spot where two other Volkswagen crashes have occurred in the past two months, police said.

The two male passengers suffered minor injuries when their gray Volkswagen GTI hatchback caught air off the bridge exit ramp about 6 a.m, accordingt to cops.

The hatchback slammed into a concrete barrier and skidded into a second, which the city Department of Transportation recently installed as a safety measure following the two previous crashes, which left a man dead and two others hurt.

After plowing through some scaffolding, the totaled hatchback landed atop a livery cab, witnesses said.

Maybe NYCDOT will ban Volkswagens from driving from the Edward Koch Bridge into Bloomberg (PKA Queens) Plaza.

The Daily News article was written as if the drivers in all three accidents were completely blameless. That the three accidents involved Volkswagons is pure coincidence - although I'm sure that there is already a class action suit against VW being cooked up by some clever lawyer. Cars do not spontaneously 'fly' off bridges, nor is this particular ramp dangerous - it's the drivers who are dangerous. The DOT should install highly visible cameras near this spot and ticket anybody traveling over the posted speed limit on this sharp turn.

What's wrong drinking the booze in Queens?

You know what VW stands for right?
Virtually Worthless.

I guess they ignored the multiple 30 mph signs as well as the 20 mph on the ramp sign. These idiots were all driving way too fast.

Leave it the way it is. Thin the herd.

The Greek parade is still going on?

I thought it ended LAST MONTH!

Nicholas, pass me the Ouzo and let's drive my Volkswagon that my father bought me for my 18th birthday!

The QueensBoro Bridge:
Ridding NY of assholes, one VW driver at a time..

Maybe Vallone will install the historic millstones as a crash barrier.

Drivers are getting confused.

That's what's causing these accidents.

This driver was obviously looking for the familiar "Queensboro Bridge"....and finding himself suddenly faced with the "Koch Bridge" instead....he stopped too suddenly.

He thought he'd missed his turn lane and was lost somewhere in Manhattan.

Kaboom!

See the broken concrete that is piled up around the plaza a decor? Yup, they are bragging they did not have to haul it away, just break it up and use it for trim.

You know what that is going to look like in 5 years?

In my opinion, Penny Lee of
City Planning and those bozos at EDC should loose their jobs.

A good one.

But vibrations and salt and ice will take care of them.

A tribute to the civic spirit of Queens which did everything it could to frustrate efforts to save them.

The bridge spews out junk like its namesake

now that is three law suits against the N.Y.C. Dept.of Transportation, Comm .Sadie, that taxpayers will have to work for, that the dumb jurists will settle with the gangster lawyers.

Too much building and too much congestion in the bridge plaza.

It can never be corrected!

Put a toll on the bridge and there will be less traffic.

Isn't that what Der Fuhrer Bloomberg wants?

LOL....put in more bike lanes!

obama gas cost $6.00 per gallon equals less cars in n.y.c.,but plenty of bikes for the lanes.

less cars on the bridge, the more room for bikes....
