Hiram's replacement is no angel, either...

From the Daily News:

Queens Assemblyman Jose Peralta landed more than $500,000 in taxpayer money for a nonprofit that never filed federal tax records, has no employees and has been inactive for more than two years.

Peralta helped organize the Corona-Elmhurst Center for Economic Development after joining the Legislature, and for years it was located in the same building as his campaign office.

This year, he and his chief political consultants have continued to lobby state and city lawmakers for additional grants for the dormant group, the Daily News has learned.

Until a month ago, the Corona-Elmhurst group maintained an office at 104-01 Roosevelt Ave., in a two-story commercial building, where Peralta rents space for his election committee.

As for the Corona-Elmhurst group, Peralta secured its first $125,000 grant in 2004 from the state's Economic Development Corp., for technical assistance for neighborhood businesses. The money was an earmark from the fund for pet projects of individual legislators.

Where do they get these guys? At least the old-style Taminent crooks gave immigrants some coal, groceries and the name of someone to set them up with a job on the piers or doing hard labor on the roads before stealing the eyeteeth out of their heads.

Now they go straight to theft and cut out the false bonhomie.

ALL politicians are corrupt. A politician cannot last long in politics without getting on the band wagon.

There is a root problem with ALL politicians.

It is in the nature of the job that you will be in a position of power over other people.

Unfortunately, people who would want to have such power are not trustworthy.

The best people for the job would be the people who want no part of it.

Its a catch 22.

All these criminals who run for political office are interchangable. Doesn't matter which one you pick, because they are all in it for the money and power. Term limits for all politicians would limit the amount of time to amass so much cash. If term limits are good enough for the President of the US, it should be for all politicians -- that goes for the Congress too.

On March 2007 Peralta and Fernando Fernandez sponsored a breakfast in Natives Restaurant, Senator Sabini attended as well as excutives of HealthPlus in Queens. On June 14 2007 Comptroller Bill Thompson was invited to an special event to the Corona-Elmhurst Center, Fernando Fernandez advertised the event in several weekly newspapers and blogs. Peralta Probed

Assembly Speaker Shelly Silver is reviewing allegations raised by the Daily News that Assemblyman José Peralta funneled money to a dubious nonprofit staffed by his cronies, and reported the free campaign space he got from the organization as an in-kind donation from his mother. She was the office manager, not the property owner. The Empire State Development Corp., which handled the funding, is investigating.

Ok first of all that whole case with Hiram was a misunderstanding. He's NOT an abuser. An abuser would not escort his victim to the hospital. Peralta is moving in seeing Monnserate's situation. Frankly the guy looks like a snake. Ofcourse, he's no angel.

Actually, that's exactly what abusers do.
