NYPD officers pummeled at nightclub

From the Daily News:

Five off-duty cops still partying after a police holiday bash were beaten outside a Queens nightclub, and the assailants are in the wind, the Daily News has learned.

At least three of the housing cops were taken to Jamaica Hospital with bloody gashes on their heads and faces after the 4 a.m. fracas last week, police said.

The pounding took place Dec. 16 outside Tropix Bar and Lounge, a popular joint on Queens Blvd. in Rego Park, police said.

The five had been boozing it up at a housing police party at Terrace on the Park in Flushing - then hopped cabs to Tropix.

One of the cops approached the bouncer and flashed his police badge to get into the club, which was about to close, a source said.

A group of men outside started screaming at the cops, and a fist fight erupted.

The officers were hit with a steering wheel lock and another "heavy metal object," said another police source.

Housing police errr.. Why couldn't it have been some real New York Pricks and D|cks!!!

Take their badges away. Abuse of privilege.

Flashing your badge to gain access to a private club, while off duty, as its about to close?

Drunk as skunks - they should be suspended for flashing their badges. Hopefully they were arrested as well although I doubt it.

Housing Cops - they still exist - are they real NYPD type cops or guards that act as doormen?

Housing Bureau, the housing and transit police were merged to the nypd in 1995. If they were drunk, they would have been suspended. If you believe everything tou read in the local papers,i have a bridge for sale.

Glad to see that NYC Taxpayer supported cops can't get drunk enough at our taxpayer supported parties. So when they go out on the town to get even drunker and try to pull rank. Getting the stuff kicked out of them just goes with the territory. Consider it a tax payer revolt.

I wonder if the po po got into their cars and drove while drunk???
Typical N.Y.P.D., a disgrace as usual.....

This happened in the 112 precinct, I can't believe it, crime is down 20% there!

it's not because of the police that crime is down, it's because of changes in the social structure in the neighborhood.

It's good they got theirs. Maybe an officer will think twice when they try to take advantage of the general public by flashing a badge. This is an example of citizen justice.

Wow, if I were a cop and I saw this outpouring of police-bashing, I would really think twice about rushing out to respond to the emergencies of your un-appreciative asses. The citizenry gets the government they deserve, and the quailty of police protection they deserve as well!

They already think twice about rushing their Suffolk county asses out there.

Considering that the nypd is approx 49% white,i would think that the percentage of personnel living in suffolk county is smaller. BTW,the cops that got assaulted,3 were hispanic,1 black and one white.

Anonymous said...

you think blacks and hispanics don't live in suffolk county? this ain't the 1960s.

Anonymous said...

Yes there are blacks and hispanics in suffolk county, just not the ones earning an nypd salary.

Tom the members of the NYPD; stay out of Queens, don't live here and don't patronize our businesses. You are not welcome here, and your protection is NOT appreciated, even by those on this board, who claim to value the law and order you provide them.
Stay out in LI where the quality of life is much better, concentrate on maintaining that high quality of life for you and your family, and don't listen to the ungrateful whiners on this site, who complain all day long, but are ultimately did nothing to prevent the deterioration of the quality of life in their own neighborhoods from the politicians and the tweeded.
Come to work, do what you are expected to, but do NOT go above and beyond for this ungrateful city. Go home after your shift to the love of your family, and get out after 20 with your well-deserved pension, and suck this dying city for everything it is worth.

Actually, good cops do go above and beyond, not necessarily by making any great sacrifice, but because they have an inherent sense of right and wrong and do not like to see people get hurt or suffer. Then there are the ones that are "20 and out" and joined so they could get an early retirement and care nothing about anything else. Those are the types that get drunk at a party and then flash their badges at nightclubs.

The po po beat you to it! They dont come , that is why we bash....

I don't like Police being beaten, if they are not safe, who is? Nonetheless, loaded men with guns are a terrible idea and if you are told the bar is closed, it's closed.

If dram shop laws are good for civilians, they are good for you too.

Typical crapper, doesn't even read the article before bashing to see that it says they arrived in cabs.

Where do you think the money comes from for Christmas parties? Cops, teachers, FD - all paid for out of their own pockets, not "taxpayer money."

Nonetheless, loaded men with guns are a terrible idea and if you are told the bar is closed, it's closed.

Who said anything about guns? They're not even mentioned in the article, so don't assume they were carrying weapons.

Yeah, the NYPD says they took cabs. Their own got the shit kicked out of them, you don't expect them to rat them out for drunk driving, do you? They drive drunk all the time (just take a look at this year's past headlines).

Cops, teachers, FD - all paid for out of their own pockets, not "taxpayer money."

When did the police force go private? Last time I checked, their salaries were taxpayer funded. Therefore, we fund their booze fests.

And we are to believe they'd be carrying their shields but not their guns? Off-duty police ALWAYS carry weapons. Usually 2 - 1 on their waist and the other in an ankle holster.

And then when they get roasted and thrown under the bus by the usual troublemakers for making a split second decision, they, and every well-meaning cop in the city wonder why they should EVER go above and beyond. Yes, some cops come on the force for the wrong reasons, but way too many good ones get burned out after they have gotten burned by the city and the department too many times.

So the taxpayers are buying my groceries and paying my rent, too? I love how it's the taxpayer's money when it's convenient for you to bitch about it.

It's not the old days anymore. It's rare to find someone that carries off-duty because no one wants to get involved in a mess off-duty. It's a big enough mess when you use one on-duty.

Actually, if you are a public servant, everything you own is because of taxpayers.

Cops actually like a high crime city, this way they can justify why we always need more of them.

"NYPD, never coming to Crappy's house said..."

Now that's interesting. I reposted a story from the newspaper, and now the cops are "never coming" to my house. Which is the case now, anyway since they are always "busy in Ridgewood."
