Storm a real soaker

From the Daily News:

High tides, strong winds and days of rain took a toll on Hamilton Beach, Queens, yesterday, submerging some streets under more than a foot of water.

Residents of the waterfront neighborhood near Kennedy Airport had to don waist-high wading boots or even hop into a boat just to run basic errands.

"When you live by the water you just learn to expect this," said retiree Barbara Baur, 63, who said the flooding was up to her dog's chest when she took him for a morning walk near her home on Davenport Court.

NY1 reports that Far Rockaway got socked, too.
