Love the tree while you can because Im sure It will be the future site of a "unique" condo in that location. Maybe they will turn that spot into a designer baby clothes shop hot spot for yuppie newbies.

It is a weeping willow. They actually flourish in the climates of Brooklyn and Queens so if you have the property and the desire, you should plant one. Your neighbors and a whole lot of people just passing through amd most of all you will be glad you did.

Now that you have chronicled this tree it is sure to disappear.

When you go down that side street, there are actually 3 of those trees lined up. Check here.

That is a weeping willow and it is a tell-tale sign of a bad place to build. Willows only grow with "wet feet." A river is running by the roots of this plant. They are also notorious pipe-breakers. That is why you don't see many of them.

My street, 18th street in Astoria was called, "Willow Street" and it was filled with them.

If you want to plant one, choose a swampy location and keep it away from water pipes.

Willows are also the original source of the pain killing chemical that is the active ingredient in asprin--salicyclic acid.

the illegal aliens will cut it down and concrete it over.

or offer up used baby diapers & car batteries at it's roots to destroy it.
