Better stop him now...

From Rock Hackshaw at Room Eight:

Okay, so many of you are going to say this is a stretch, but it isn’t: come next month, and let’s say Michael Bloomberg is elected to a third term as mayor (although I hope not), what is going to prevent him from overturning the term limits law again, and legislating himself a chance at being a four-term mayor? And furthermore, who is going to stop him? Pray tell.

The initial answer is as obvious as my handsome face: nothing. The secondary answer is even more obvious than my charm and wit: no one. Nothing and no one can stop Michael Bloomberg from going for a fourth term if he were to win again next month.

Look; I don’t know much about these things, but I have been told that Bloomberg’s tenure in office, has become “the morning after the night before”. That’s when you wake up to some “bat-faced” girl or guy in your bed, and you can’t figure out what happened. (As I said, I don’t know much about these things).

You can have all the money in the world, but it cannot buy you class. A classy mayor -in Bloomberg’s position- would have returned term limits to the voters for another referendum. And that’s why I say shame on Colin Powell. And shame on Mario Cuomo for his position-take on the term-limits extension legislation. That one hurt me no end. And shame on Peter Vallone and his lame-brained kids. And the comatose Ed (Crotch)Koch too. Shame on all of you. And even Lew Fidler, Al Vann and all the spineless councilmembers who voted yes on the extension bill. And shame on all those (male and female) notables who now support “John” Michael Bloomberg. As true leaders go, they are morally bankrupt. It appears that they are all for sale. That’s not real leadership: that’s prostitution.

A true leader leads by example: always. You always stand up for things that are right. No one should mess with the spirit of true democracy when millions all over the world shed blood and/or die for it, every day of the friggin week. No one: especially a multi-billionaire mayor, who should have known better.

I tip my hat to you sir. One of the most elequent speeches in a long time.

Now for the 'hope' and 'wish' crowd out there that left Tony dangling, how about redeeming yourselves?

Send a copy of this to every Queens weekly Letters to the Editors. When they refuse to publish it, call them and ask why.

Make a record of who you spoke to, and what they said.

Then send it on to Crap. You can post as Anon. That is ok. Afterall, the boys in the smoke filled room all do the nasty as Anon also.

People are idiots and will elect him again. He will probably run for a fourth term and win. Nothing changes! I don't wish him any ill health, but the only way we will ever get rid of him is if he dies or if he gets tired of the job. (fat chance, too many developers and too much money to make)

Don't agree. Even if Bloomberg wins a third term, I think that there would be a lot of public rage if he wanted a fourth term. Look at the elections for City Council in Fort Greene, where Leticia James, the incumbent who has been totally anti-Bloomberg and anti development won by 82%. And DeBlasio's "pitch" as Public Advocate, made it clear he wants to be public thorn in the Mayor's side. Even if Bloomberg wins, he has a very narrow constituency. It is just the business community, some "liberals" who identify with him, and some interest groups. The anti-Bloomberg rage is palpable, if you read the blogs, or even if you talk to people. It is the people in between, those who for whatever reason, don't want to get involved, who probably will determine if he wins or loses. Atleast that is the way I read things.

No look at the first poster - if some people did that he would lose 10,000 votes here in Queens.

Whining and bitching are not the way to get anything done.

You got to ACT UP!.

Think about it. If you did not ever do that, you would still be in your mother's womb.

Bloomberg will win the third term because his primary competition is Bill Thompson.

It's a sad day when the best chance a Democrat had against Bloomy was Mark Green's stand in '01, but Freddy Ferrer couldn't come close and neither will the similarly inept Thompson.

Taxpayer has been calling Bloomberg "turtle-faced" for the longest time. Here's proof others are thinking the same thing:

Thanks again for posting this. I would rather turn to you for the news than newspapers that will not report the news.

Here is my YouTube on Bloomberg propaganda, term limits scandal and Steve Rattner, Mike's money manager....

I also mention I predict Bloomberg will win but by the lowest price point, the lowest votes for the most money spent. Remember his first run he had Bloomberg radios handed out. Were you openly able to tune to Bloomberg News?

If he does spend a 100 million most went to campaign people, advertising execs and special interest groups....

If he had only stood on the streets of NYC and handed out a 100 million he would have won by a bigger turn out -- high price point per vote.

From the term limits debacle to the obscene amount of money spent which is proof we need limits of all kinds it is clear Bloomberg has to go.
