From the Daily News:
A deli owner whose Queens business burned to the ground three years ago is now charged with setting the blaze in a scheme to collect insurance money, law enforcement sources said.
Salvatore LaBarca, 36, is charged with torching Food Express in Long Island City in October 2006.
Fire investigators determined at the time that the fire, which also destroyed a nearby Chinese restaurant and caused minor injuries to two firefighters, had been intentionally set.

He's a flid...................
If it took 3 years to determine the fire was arson I guess it's time to hire more fire investigators.
Thank God that madman did not kill anyone. He needs many years behind bars. I was at the Father's Day fire in Astoria and personally witnessed hundreds rendered homeless and three firefighters killed, 60 injured. Two men were put into intensive care but survived.
I rarely pass the corner where the 3 dead men's names are enshrined without thinking of the pain those badly burned 2 survivors must feel to this day.
your all sick people who are writing this about him you dont know him the media is lying about all there claims of an insurabce claim and just to clarify to all you assholes no one was hurt. The was a fire but not nearly as bad as you are all claiming it to be. Get a life stop writing about people that you don't know.
Maybe the constant increases in rent, electric, water, gas, etc and working 15 hour days to make no money finally did him in?
Come on people don't judgethe men not knowing the truth.Media always a scam to make you beleive in crap.....oh well I can see only the smart ones know that!
People should know the truth one that the building never burt to the ground, two the media is tring to get more hype about something that is over exaggerated. Sounds like insurance company had alot to do with the three year delay in someone being charged with arson, big money has big influence even up high in goverment agencies.Funny no charges until insurance claim comes in, think about it. They make it easy to figure out if you just look at it with a buisness mind.
