Carolyn Maloney's husband dies

From NY1:

The husband of Manhattan-Queens Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney died during a mountain climbing expedition in Tibet, according to the representative's office.

Clifton Maloney, 71, a former vice president at Goldman Sachs who later ran a private investment firm, died yesterday afternoon.

It is not known whether he died while climbing or at a campsite.

He is also survived by two daughters.

Look, I sympathize. A death, unexpected, is always sad.

However, now that we have a profile of her background, it seems clear why she shows up just to feed millions of dollars to developers while services to the community sinks to its knees.

She doesn't care about the people of Queens. In her world we serve her at restaurants, clean the floors of her luxory co-op, deliver her food and watch her kids.

She just doesn't care for us period.

The big mystery is why the local pols and papers thinks someone like this is just peachy for our borough.

And she was too afraid to challenge Gillibrand. Get a backbone, lady!

And nothing of any importance was lost.

Sorry to hear about this.
However, same day:
Five American soldiers have been killed in attacks in southern Afghanistan, where the U.S. and NATO have heightened their offensive against the Taliban, military officials reported Friday in Kabul. - CBS News

More sorry to hear about this because in the scheme of things these people and their families are nameless and faceless and are not among the beautiful and powerful people.

Just my perspective

You answered it yourself. She, like they, are in it for themselves.

What did (I believe Tip ONeil) say about pols? 90% of them make the 10% actually trying to do something look bad.
