Final Democratic mayoral debate tonight

From the NY Times:

The main campaign event today will be the second and final debate between the two leading Democratic candidates in the Sept. 15 primary, William C. Thompson Jr. and Tony Avella. Mr. Thompson, the city comptroller, is the heavy favorite against Mr. Avella, a City Councilman from Queens. You can expect Mr. Avella, a populist firebrand, to try the equivalent of a political Hail Mary in his upset bid.

And who knows, maybe Mr. Thompson will get personal, for a change, and talk about his Outward Bound-trained sense of adventure. But Mr. Thompson needs to make sure that he does not make any fatal mistakes that could, say, become a YouTube sensation — or fodder for the two-term incumbent he is expected to face in November, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. You can watch the debate live at 7 PM on WABC-TV. (right before President Obama’s health care address).

Very informative debate. Both candidates did well, however, Avella came off as honest and well-informed on many issues. He has my vote. Best of luck to him.
