Avella: Bloomberg Ripping You Off

From Fox 5:

As far as Queens City Councilman and mayoral candidate Tony Avella is concerned, opponent and current Mayor Michael Bloomberg is up to no good.

"I'm not calling him a crook, " Avella told Good Day NY's Greg Kelly on Friday, but "he's using his position of mayor to further his personal wealth."

Avella says that when the mayor first took office he said he had separated from the multi-billion dollar media company he founded - Bloomberg LLP. Later, Bloomberg said he was overseeing the company.

While mayor, Avella says, Bloomberg has increased his personal wealth by $16-$18 million (he cites a NY Times report) even though he's only paid $1 per year as mayor.

Talk about conflict of interest: The son of Bloomberg's Police Commissioner grilling his father's boss' political opponent.

I like how the reporter stayed fair and balanced....

I like the way Tony said I don't want to ask Koch or Vallone for endorsements because then I will owe them something when I get in the door.

I think that should read $16-18 Billion, with a "B"...

Bloomberg must collect at least $16 Million a day on his investments...

Something tells me that Avella monitors Queens Crap as some of his comments seem to come from this site such as the point about Bloomturd spending lots of money on his full page ads in the local papers and the potential influence on their coverage and endorsements.

Those people intereviewed toward the end of the report were so clueless it was frightening! But it speaks loudly to the point that the mayor's $$$ is detrimental to the democratic process. However, I think that there are enough angry citizens to make his third term a nightmare for him and his associates.

Bloomberg is so fucked up that he is holding a rally at our primary election day. Dictator and his deputy mayor have done everything to kill democracy including overturning term limits.

I agree with that statement. I think he will have a really bad third term if elected.

I know at least one Queens Pol reads here. A few weeks back HE was going door to door (running for city council), and I made a mention of the site, and he said he read it every day - he then saw my license plate, and the dime clicked

Oink, oink!

Bloomberg has fattened himself at the trough for 2 terms and that's more than enough!

Now it's time for that little piggy to become political sausage.

Grind him up at the polls fellow voters!

I'm frying up the peppers and onions right now.

Would somebody please provide some nice "panna di casa" hero bread?

So why doesnt the Media Capital of the World ask why Mr Bloomerang is getting rich while we are getting poor?

Take the time used to report on the US Open (no one really cares) and use it to discuss this?

Wait...what??

Yes it is true and was reported in the media last week. They are expected to pull out 2500 people. This is devious and Machiavellian and an affront to democracy.

However - where are all the anti-Bloomberg people; where are the Democratic clubs? Why aren't they having their own rally? Why is everyone just sitting around and letting it happen?

Exactly, just sitting about bitching on this blog - and doing nothing else - means that Tony doesn't have a chance.

They will bitch but they sowed the seeds of their defeat themselves.

Using words like 'hope' and 'wish' and hurling slogans in private will get you nowhere in politics.

perfect example of why Avella has no chance. No one know who he is expect for a few people who live in CD 19. So should we expect Behar to win as well?? Funny stuff.

First of all, the word you meant to use was "except." And what does a candidate's citywide name recognition have to do with his endorsement in the local race?
