Chuck goes after spam callers

From 1010WINS/AP:

Americans increasingly are receiving calls with a computerized voice saying, "This is the final notice. The factory warranty on your vehicle is about to expire,'' or something similar, several times a day on their cell or land lines. The calls come even if a person has signed up for the national "do not call'' registry.

Now, Sen. Charles Schumer of New York wants a federal investigation into the "robo-dialer harassment.''

"Not only are these calls a nuisance, but they tie up land lines and can eat up a user's cell phone minutes, possibly leading to a higher cell phone bill due to overage charges,'' said Schumer, D-N.Y.

Meanwhile, officials in 40 states are investigating the companies behind the car-warranty calls.

While we're ar it upChuck, how about looking into political phone calls. Bloomturd's robocalls are a bit much as well!

And those calls from Debt Solutions or 'Mortgage Reduction Department' ready to renogotiate my non-existant mortgage.

Aren't these the same guys that did those subprime mortgages?

Robocalls are the sign of a scam artist. If you are at home and no one immediately answers when you pick up, hang up the phone.

More of Chuck's smarmy grandstanding.

What the hell does this butt plug do besides count his money?

Too many wealthy politicians to spoil the soup of democracy!

Let me see, the country is expected to have a deficit of 1.8 trillion dollars this year (and that's a rosey forecast), and this maroon is worrying about spam callers.

Why not find out why the US government (NIF) is spending $2.6 million to train Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly on the job?

This guy is such a putz!

Shumer fights hard for NYS, people please realize that NYS (especially NYC) doen't get its far share from the Feds for medicare, medicaid, and transportation. Bumblefuck Kansas gets as much as we do for transportation and medicare.

Until Schumer pointed out this severe national problem, I was off believing that nuclear Pakistan being overrun by the rabid Taliban, or the low-level resurgence of violence in Iraq, or the sending of 70,000 new troops to Afghanistan, or the 10 TRILLION tax dollars being wasted by Obama on groups like ACORN were the nation's critical problems.

But, Schumer, with laser-like precision, highlighted the real problem: phone calls about warrantee for cars that don't even exist.

Cure this problem and all the others will disappear!
