It seems that developers in Fresh Meadows are becoming more brazen in expanding their brick boxes closer than ever to the sidewalk. The latest example is at 71-33 162 Street, where balconies protrude further than any other building on the block. Single-family homes once stood on this block. The DOB site has a few violations for the site. Its neighbor is the Garden Hills condo, by Tommy Dafna.
I've spoken to the residents of the Fedders box next door, and they said "That's life, there's nothing you can do about it," referring to the construction. Notice that there are two cars parked in front of that brick box.

Horrid, yes, except for the people desperate enough to live there - for most of them it will be a step up.
Imagine. Block after block after block of this.
