Dozens of Willets Point owners fighting to stay

"You cannot have a situation where one building owner sits there and sticks it to the whole city." - Mayor Michael Bloomberg in reference to the use of eminent domain at Willets Point, April 2008.

Okay, how about more than one building owner?

Attorneys and organizers from the Institute of Justice met with dozens of property owners from Willets Point in Flushing last week in hopes of hashing out a plan to halt the project or the potential use of eminent domain, which would transform the 60-acre area into a sprawling commercial and residential neighborhood.

The collection of property owners formed a new group, Willets Point United Against Eminent Domain, which hope to lobby Gov. David Paterson next month to block the project.

How about the Willets point owners buy out the 2 people that "sold out" and tell the Mayor go jump into one of Benepe's Flushing Meadow fountains..
.. Head first.

Those developers are going to run like hell come Obama with his "share the wealth"

People are going to be begging for those junkyards when the big 3 tank or quadruple prices on parts.

there were only 20 resident landowners in all of Willets Point. 12 have finalized negotiations with the City.

Who are the "dozens" fighting to stay? There are only a handful left.

Your semantics are tiresome, Biggie. In this country, you own property whether you work on it yourself or rent to someone else who does.

how can "dozens fight to stay" when they most likely live in Jersey or Florida and only go to Willets to collect their rent?

Dozens fight to keep exploiting land and immigrant workers is more accurate.

Dont you feel a need to source your images or do you routinely steal without attribution?

The attribution is the link that you are supposed to click on to read the whole story. I know you have already read it, Biggie because you left your insults all over that blog. Furthermore, I didn't hear too many people complaining about being exploited at that standing room only meeting.

Of course not.. The people at that Meeting were the exploiters.

The absentee landlords who charge rents for tin shacks with multiple building code violations.

The same type of people that YOU rail against in College Point at that Dilapidated so called "Mansion"

With what money are they going to develop Willets point with? Forest City Co is in the toilet and most construction in the city is halted so why is this even still really an issue.
