4 contractors indicted for manslaughter

Three construction supervisors and a subcontractor have been indicted on manslaughter charges in the 2007 deaths of two firefighters at a Ground Zero skyscraper, capping a complex 16-month investigation that exposed numerous failures by city officials.

The people charged include two senior officials at subcontractor John Galt Corp. and a manager with general contractor Bovis Lend Lease, the District Attorney's office in Manhattan said. The Galt company is also being charged. They are all charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and reckless endangerment.

Why did Morgenthau avoid indicting FDNY Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta and his superior Commissar Death and Taxes?

They were responsible for ignoring the reports that there were serious fire hazards in the building, and they were the ones who decided to keep expenses low by reducing the frequency of inspections of the building.

Those inspections would have revealed the cut standpipe, the immediate cause of the deaths of the firefighters.

Naturally, Robert Morgenthau is more concerned with protecting the guilty pair than in ever protecting firefighters. So, we get a show trial.

Agreed This goes to the top. To the "hands off developers" policy at City hall. Let's see how they all get out of testifying (and they will), because if I was an attorney for those fall guys, I would call Mayor Mike to the witness stand, please.

What a terrific idea! The Commissar needs to be questioned relentlessly. Let's watch he throw one of his tiny-toe turtle-face tantrums in open court.

These fellows are totally entitled to a thorough defense.

Bloomberg didnt take care of the dismantling of the building which should have been completed by now.Theres a lot of passing the buck on his regular formula as mister good guy innocent mayor.
Hes busy with Patterson closing fire stations i guess and cutting hours. Most other states would really point out he has responsibility to the building being safely taken apart as the mayor.
