Councilwoman Melinda Katz sang "God Bless America" at Shea Stadium today and it wasn't a good day for either the Mets or Katz.
The Mets trailed 8-1 when Katz took the field in the bottom of the 7th and her off-key rendition of the song, made famous by Kate Smith, certainly did not help the home team who lost a chance to make the playoffs in the most monumental collapse in baseball history.
If anyone has video of this post it on YouTube and send us a link.

instead of letting Katz sing the Mets might've let her hit or pitch. How much worse could she have done?
I never heard such horrible noises in the flushing meadow since 1964 Worlds Fair the Dinosoars in the GM pavillion ride.
Every dog in Corona must have been howling !!
The only thing worse than her singing was the Mets' performance. Towards the end of the song her voice cracked and she actually lost it.
This woman has a lot of nerve thinking she can sing in front of a crowd like that.
She should stick to being a politician. Man she stunk up the place almost as bad as my beloved Mets. Wait'll next year!
They should fire Willie Randolph.
COUNCILWOMAN MELINDA KATZ WAS PRETTY BAD TODAY. I HAVE TO GIVE HER CREDIT FOR TRYING THOUGH. SHRILL WAS A GOOD DESCRIPTION OF HER SINGING. SHE SHOULDN'T QUIT HER DAY JOB.
it sounded like an animal in horrible pain...
She could've been as bad as Glavine.
Leave Willie Randolph out of it! Blame that new idiot Lastings Milledge (sic). He put the fire into the their opposition with his dopey, in your face antics with Reyes on Saturday. When you are so far ahead there is no need for dancing and high fives. Act that a pro. Willie should stop them from doing that! They look like idiots and it is not professional.
She walked off the field with her head down when she was done, just like the Mets did.
Katz was in heat .....
seeking a new canoodling partner .......
what that shrill wailing!
Maybe she ran out of developers to bed with.
If she tries that at 2:00 AM in my alley.....
I'll throw a shoe at her!
She was pretty bad I must say. And oh yeah, the Mets weren't good either.
alley katz.
Don't blame the screeching noise entirely on our beloved Melinda-san.
You could have been hearing the wheels of the number 7 train and thought it was her voice.
With Katz was her personality challenged staff member, Jay Bond. Nobody can figure out what that guy does.
Man, Katz was pissed when she came off the field. I guess she took it out on her whipping boy, Jay.
did she curtsey after the performance?
What the hell is she doing singing for baseball fans as devolopers continue to "block bust" every street in Queens.
Has anbody taken a good look at Little Neck latley ?
I don't know a councilman from a congressman but the woman who sang in the 7th inning at Shea sucked worse than the Mets, and that was hard to do.
Man a whole page of cheap shots.
Gallagher is that you? Or is it your one and only blow up boy, Joey the Hut?
If alley Katz sings for her supper....
or free Mets tickets.......
what does she "do" for developers ?
I hope she can hit a good high "C"
for Mattone!
in general, women who are thin seem to think they're God's gift to the universe, which they sort of are in these diet-conscious times when being lean is almost as esteemed as being rich, which is a lot of hooey in my book, but not in many other people's.
Is Little Neck really still considered Queens? I know the boundaries, but stil. Katz gets Kredit: I never had the cojones to sing at Shea. That, and I was never asked...
little Neck is part of Queens, but Queeens is not part of Little Neck.
>>>Little Neck is part of Queens, but Queeens is not part of Little Neck.<<<
Huh?

JAY BOND IS CERTAINLY PERSONALITY-CHALLENGED.
little Neck is part of Queens, but Queens is not part of Little Neck.
just being silly, in response to the previous commentor's perplexing question about whether "Little Neck was considered to be part of Queens."
