Glendale homeless shelter devolves into crime pit, as expected

QNS

The Cooper Rapid Rehousing Center has been a hot spot for crime in the Glendale area since it opened in 2020, with a staggering 808 911 calls and 71 arrests made. QNS received exclusive data regarding the operations at the shelter after Councilman Robert Holden demanded answers from the mayor’s office on its effectiveness.

There are currently 183 homeless men residing at the Cooper Rapid Rehousing Center at 78-16 Cooper Ave., none of which are from Community Board 5, Holden said. Most of the residents came from other boroughs.

Councilman Robert Holden has been a staunch opponent of the shelter since it was just an idea. Earlier this year, Holden called on the city to investigate the shelter, claiming it was not upholding its contractual obligations to provide basic benefits like employment services and life skills programming.

“[Department of Homeless Services], the city, the Bill de Blasio administration has broken almost every promise,” Holden said. “They said this would be an employment shelter, and it’s not. It puts a lot of stress on the limited resources of the 104th Precinct.”

Holden has been battling to get data revealing the operations of the shelter, and finally after contacting Mayor Eric Adams himself, was able to get a look into the shelter’s efficiency.

Of the 183 men living at the Cooper shelter, 52% of them are employed, according to data from the mayor’s office.

According to the city, they estimate about 64% of the unemployed men are able to work. The average stay for a resident is 314 days.

Since 2020, 71 arrests were made, mainly for assault. Most of the over 800 911 calls made were for an ambulance or a call for help.

Give them a broom to clean the neighborhood, I'm sure they could all do that.

Anyone who thought Eric was going to deliver on anything is a fool. The smart vote went for Curtis. Enjoy your new Mayor, Sheeple.

Must be all the white guys. No POC would do that.

We can complain all day and night, but nothing will happen to those crooks. They’re untouchable in Brandon’s America.

Why doesn't the local media report on the crimes that take place in and around the shelter by these angry and mentally ill homeless single men who cause chaos in this area.

Why are they so silent? Oh, that's right - this shelter is not in Manhattan.

Queens as usual is neglected and ignored by the politicians and the local newspapers and other media outlets.

Nah you can’t give these guys brooms. They would have no idea how to work them. What if there’s a black out? Oops I mean power outage. Okay okay let’s start a non- profit called Brooms for POC. It will be for everyone but white people. We can get corporate donations, government grants to teach the shelter residents on the proper application of a broom to the sidewalk. Another one on how to apply a broom to a floor. We will hire violent youth who otherwise would be locked up far away from society.

I used to fight homeless shelters until I ended up in one by order of protection. Sure enough most of the residents are on drugs, many of which are now legal. Many work in delivery or security or fast food jobs which are not enough for housing. Many are there because of fires, domestic conflicts, and capricious landlords. One landlord bought a building and forced someone to move because he was not on the relative's lease. A doorman lost his apartment when he broke his limb, hence being unemployable. Many are on psychiatric medications. The reason many cannot be in their home turf is the orders of protection.

Because the mayor & wokes wont like it.
I would be considered racist or hate speech.
If the news or some movie company gets kicked off the MOME list they lose the tax breaks, incentives and preferred permits to operate in this city.

See the membership here, almost every stage, major caterer, TV and movie company is on it.
The sheep don't understand this PC censorship communist shit is indeed very real.
Its like joining a private club or HOA, when you sign on you agree to club rules. The Constitution and free speech is tossed in the toilet. Democrats own all the media in New York, Boston, California and Seattle.
News and true untainted freedom of press longer exists A must read here:
