In a nutshell...

I'm not sure who this person is, but I thank him for 100% getting what's going on here and painting this picture in just a few words. If it's not clear by now that fauxgressives are the real estate industry's biggest weapon, I'm not sure what will convince you. The orange is pretty much a map of where woke Whites invaded and gentrified the piss out of once affordable neighborhoods.

One of Ronald Reagan's famous quotes says to be wary of people from government who claim they are here to help, but what should terrify regular New Yorkers is people from other states who think they know how to fix New York City.

Candidates from elsewhere are downright terrifying. They're the ones behind Planning Together, anti-car zealotry, defunding the police, bail reform and all the other dumb ideas that are supposed to bring about a socialist nirvana but really only succeed at screwing taxpayers' quality of life. This crap doesn't fly back where they come from so they bring it here and for some reason, we go along with it. It's time to wake up already.

What I find surprising is how well Wiley did in the North Bronx, while all the new luxury public housing development is happening in the South.

We all should vote for anyone that can save NYC from the Marxist Mayor in office now !
His damage will take years to fix ...

Those big blots don't correspond to big populations: Van Cortland Park and a few residential blocks, Fordham University, Albert Einstein Medical School, Bronx Psychiatric Center... It's mostly an illusion because they're large lots, but not that many registered voters. And she only won around 30% in most of them.

I live in Astoria, which is filled with these out of staters bringing their ideas with them, bike lanes, anti-car, vegans, rich white people who got theirs, but want to make it difficult for others to get ahead, this map and the commentary nails it right on the head. After all, DeBlasio is from Massachusetts and incoming comptroller Lander is from Missouri. I see more out of state license plates that New York ones.

This crap does fly outside of NYC. Just go to California.

It might not be a popular argument but this is modern day slavery. Rich, elitist whites think they "know better" than people of color on how to run their own lives. So they vote DIFFERENTLY than communities of color because they are CONVINCED that their far-left candidates will SAVE communities of color. And they take advantage of low-turnout primaries to ensure that people like DeBlasio, AOC, and Caban get elected. The candidates themselves are not always white elitists--but have strong white elitist support.

Communities of color are saying WE WANT THE POLICE AND POLICE PROTECTION, when white elites are saying they'd be better off without the police. Every white elitist vote for a pandering DSA or far-left candidate cancels out a working class vote from a community of color. THAT is voter suppression.

It's absolutely absurd that white elitist Astoria has such a lopsided say in how communities of color in Washington Heights are policed.

This is why Long Island and New Jersey are divided up into towns and villages, additional layers of government beyond beyond cities and counties. People want LOCAL RULE over what happens to them, not some elitist colony barking orders from their luxury homes.

Same people who whine about gentrification, also whine when AOC helped block Amazon setting up their other HQ in LIC. Make up your mind's Sheeple. Do you want gentrification or not? If not, then stop crying about Amazon.

First time, long time. I'm white from a pretty good area of Queens. Been here my entire life. Voted for Adams because I believe out of that mess running, he gives us the best chance of solving some of the problems that developed under Bozo. The 20+ year on NYPD and earning Captain's rank is important to me. No I am not NYPD. But I know you don't become Captain by just knowing someone. Hope for the best now and hope Bozo's further damage is limited. At least Cojo didn't become Comptroller.

This is why Sheeple need the government to solve their problems. Wink Wink...

"It is funny when far left candidates invent excuses for losing. Jaslin Kaur did the same thing in D23."

Many of Jindal's voters ranked her, so she got a big boost when he got eliminated. He's a moderate, so it's pretty clear you had South Asians wanting one of their candidates to win.

And when Markell and Behar were eliminated, not that many votes went to Linda Lee. At least half became inactive. Must not like her or people didn't use all five rank votes.

These Socialists know how to play the game and win low turnout primaries. And since the Democrat usually wins the general election, folks need to wise up. Republicans also need to fix their party and start fielding reasonable people for the general election. Still many unaffiliated voters out there and swayable Democrats. It'll take years to rebuild, but Republicans use to be competitive in many parts of the City. Like these socialists, it only take one big win and you start breaking through.

In Nov the battle for Queens is going to be fought in the 32nd Council District. AOC, Caban and company will be pouring in money and campaign workers to install one of their acolytes in one of the last areas where a moderate Repub has a shot at winning. That district is one where moderates from all parties and unaffiliated voters can make a difference by supporting the Repub with money and effort.

AOC whined (which is all she does) but didn't do diddly. The Amazon deal was contingent on the approval of a state board. Gianaris (and indirectly Stewart-Cousins) were going to block the deal, they and others wanted concessions, so Amazon got angry and just cancelled.

Gentrification is when affluent transplants push residents out of stable working class neighborhoods, what's happening to Puerto Ricans in Bushwick or West Indians in Crown Heights. Same applies to arrogant socialists who invaded Astoria. Gentrification comes from the word gentry. So lower middle class Chinese immigrants moving to Sunset Park aren't included.

LIC hasn't been undergoing gentrification because it was an expanse of factories and warehouses that the city largely rezoned for residential and office space. The area has been undergoing a transformation from industrial/commercial use because the economy changed. Factories closed. Amazon was going to build an office tower on the industrial waterfront that added tens of thousands of jobs over a decade. New construction was going to take years.

LIC has housing going up all over the place, much with an affordable housing component. Think of Hunters Point South. LIC has tempered citywide gentrification since there was no housing there before. Rather than take over an existing residential neighborhood, wealthy transplants had brand new waterfront high rises with amenities. So Wiley didn't do well in LIC or the Williamsburg waterfront. Kathryn Garcia mostly lead with a plurality.

NYC needs new corporate jobs from Amazon and other companies because the economy changes. If you haven't noticed, major sectors like the financial industry in NYC have been shrinking for decades. Some of the jobs were lost to automation, but others have been moved to lower costs states like North Carolina. Investment banker type jobs may stay, but the corporate support jobs like HR, Benefits, Compliance are leaving or gone. City has to constantly grow other sectors and attract new companies.

Stop blaming white people for everything. Start blaming black people like Chirlaine McCray and her black ally, Bill DeBlasio for destroying NYC.

"Stop blaming white people for everything" They voted them into office ! They get the blame pure and simple.

Amazon was going to get BILLIONS of dollars in Tax Breaks even though Amazon does not need them and Jeff Bezos is the Richest Man in the World.

Take a guess on who was going to pay the taxes Amazon would not have to pay so a few New Yorkers can have a full time job with no benefits.

That's right!!

We the low income wage earners who pay too many taxes in the first place while Wall Street, Corporate America enjoy their Corporate Welfare and tax breaks politicians Always gives them.

Anonymous on last post regarding Amazon getting billions on tax breaks to get paid by low income workers. Please stop listening to AOC. Your brain is literally poisoned. She drove away a company that would have dumped in billions of dollars into the local economy. Billions lost. All over a whiney bartender that has zero clue what she is talking about. Those who believe her will always finish last in life. Go out and read a book. Learn something. Don’t listen to politicians. Any of them.

NY POST
New York state really, really wanted Amazon — to the tune of billions
By Laura Italiano

Last Anonymous.

I am a Realist. I read the news articles on what really is happening. I don't listen to politicians, especially those who believe building less prisons to keep black and hispanic criminals out of prison.

Read the article. Then read more from other legitimate news sources. You will be surprised whose brain is literally being poisoned and whose isn't.

Stop living in a bubble of denial and delusions. Then maybe you will have to live in harsh reality of hypocritical politicians who give away billions in tax breaks for one corporation to provide 25,000 jobs while they refuse to raise the federal minimum wage so low income workers can earn more to pay the high taxes that Corporate America and billionaires refuse to pay.

Currently the federal minimum wage is $ 7.25 an hour.
