But what about the whore ads?

Friends, please read this which went out as an official press release today. - Michael Schenkler

"Historic Newspapers Change Hands"

As the ball dropped in Times Square heralding the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013, ownership of one of the Metropolitan area’s most storied publishing companies also changed.

The Queens Tribune, started by Gary Ackerman in 1970, and the Long-Islander, started by America’s poet Walt Whitman in 1838, along with their sister papers, were acquired by PFH Media Group NY, LLC from Tribco, LLC.

Michael Schenkler, President of Tribco, LLC, who has guided the Tribune since 1978 and acquired and became publisher of the Long-Islander in 2006, made the announcement on Jan. 2 and shall remain with Phoenix Media as a consultant.

As the staff returned to work in the New Year, Schenkler introduced Mr. Brandy Williams, Chairman of Phoenix Financial Holdings, the Washington D.C. holding company that now controls the publications.

Phoenix Financial Holdings makes significant investments in profitable small and mid-sized companies in partnership with existing management teams and seeks to generate superior financial returns through the pursuit of growth opportunities and a focus on operational excellence.

Brandy Williams said, “I believe that exciting days are ahead for our new publications, and we look forward to building on their historic, journalistic foundations and growing them in the vital communities which they serve.”

The present staff of both the Queens and Long Island operations is being retained by Phoenix, which shall supplement the present efforts with its business expertise and publishing experience, to take the company’s publications to a new level.

In addition to the Queens Tribune and the Long Islander, the acquisition includes: The Record (of Northport, L.I.), the Half Hollow Hills Newspaper and the Press of Southeast Queens; several legal publications; Multi-Media, (an advertising, promotion and printing company) and DineHuntington, (operators of Huntington Restaurant Week).

Sounds like they'll be running more whore ads - if it wasn't profitable, they wouldn't be running them.

If anyone wants to give Brandy a call and ask him...

"..the pursuit of growth opportunities..."? Maybe they'll get fatter whores?

Where did Schenkler dig up this cat Brandy Williams? A guy that lists an "Ashworth University" (or is it "Ashworth College"? - Google it yourself)- a home study mill for his "education"?

Hey Trib staffers be sure to bring a change of underwear and baby wipes for the next few months. You'll certainly be shittin' in your pants for awhile.

Hey Schenkler, be sure to "hammer" that check fast before it bounces.

Heh, almost as impressive as the Larry Storch School of Modeling that Kelly Bundy attended on "Married With Children."

"Phoenix Financial Holdings (PFH) was formed as a diversified financial holding company. The purpose of the company is to purchase existing companies and provide additional capital to continue and increase the volume and the profitability of the acquired companies. Also start and manage our own real estate division that will focus on sales and development. The division will be a LLC formation and will be called MONUMENTAL DEVELOPMENT GROUP, LLC
The overall business model created by establishing and funding this holding company effectively creates a complete business solution platform of unlimited marketing opportunities. This platform combines certain natural relationship marketing synergies. Acquire a Federal or National Bank Phoenix Financial Holdings first financial project is to acquire a small national or federal bank in the NY, Texas, and Florida or Chicago area. The company intends to enter into a marketing plan to expand bank’s customer base and drive additional recurring revenue. The bank PFH is focusing on now is located in NY area. The bank that (PFH) is looking to purchase has about 80 million in assets and equity capital of 6-7 million. (PFH) can purchase the bank for or around 8-12 million. (PFH) goal is to expand the bank location into Washington D.C. Texas and Florida areas within 1-2 years of its acquired date. Our focus customer base is middle class and urban areas within our bank locations. We look to offer special rates and terms on savings, cds, Money market and checking accounts to appeal to younger middle class and urban individuals. We also look to appeal to the urban mega churches such as Church of God In Christ to solicit their members to open an account at our bank. We will also offer mortgage, credit card, personal line of credit and small business loans. One of our focus and special financing will be for churches that have a hard time obtain loans from traditional banks."

How many errors can you count?

And, don't forget, the Church of God in Christ members will certainly appreciate those Asian Hot Kiss ads. 'strue. Hallelujah Happy Ending!

Brandy also is linked to "Panda Financial Group" - although you can't judge a company by its name, could it be a link to some Asian money? Sounds like a company that Nussbaum might be proud to work with.

The boys got off just in time.
Readers abandoning the paper in bank lobbies and diner vestibules finally paid off.
Retreating advertising revenue sank this garbage scow.

Brandy Williams, ain't she the famous porn star feom the 70's ?

Coincidence or connection?

Cecilia Chang goes down!
John Liu is on the verge of being indicted.
How many more will follow?

Are Ackerman, Nussbaum, Schenckler, cutting their loses, and abandoning ship just in time to elude the FBI probers?

That transfer to "Phoenix" is just a paper transfer.
Who knows what private contracts exist in the Orient with Donald Manes' "bag man" Michael Nussbaum.

I'll bet that the Trib's old boys are still running things under a new name from behind the (bamboo?) curtain.

Consultants? My ass! Phoenix is Schenky's and Nussie's new aliases!

Ackerman wont give up his golden goose.
He'll choke that chicken 'til the last!

That leaves us with one final question.
Was "Tribco" at the apex of an Asian money laundering operation?

I hope that the feds keep on following the money trail that leads to Taiwan and back to the USA.

WAH...WAH...WAH!

Now where am I gonna find my exotic Asian whores without the Trib's "massagee" parlor ads?

"Phoenix" sure sounds like an Asian company to me.

Maybe they'll publish a sex tourism section in their new publication.

HUBBA, HUBBA, HUBBA!
I'm long overdue for a good tune up.

Do you think that Nussbaum will pass on his little black book?

Hey the change could be good - beats the former.

That's IF there REALLY IS a change.
Don't be so naive.

This looks like just a RESHUFFLING
of the same old crooked deck of cards!

Newspapers are old news!

Ackerman & Co. is dumping a losing operation.
If it wasn't for the Trib's whore ads, they would have gone into the red (eventually bankrupt) long ago.

The internet is where it's at!

We are now in the faster moving 21st century.
Ink on paper media costs too much money, for what it can return in the way of profits.

Look at how thin the advertising pages in almost all traditional papers and magazines have become.

A dollar for the "Daily News" that's as thick as their old sports section alone used to be is not for me.

I get my up to date up dates online!

Minor correction: Daily News is 75 cents on weekdays, $1 on Saturday, and $1.25 on Sunday.

What does the NY Times weekend edition cost?
I haven't bought it for years.

Sunday is $5 in NY, and $6 elsewhere.

Good luck with these people, they will promise you the world and return take from your 401, never put in but is says on are check, insurance and additional policies never paid. Order all this new equipment and never paid, promised a company vacation and yes that never happened. Took a 76 year all newspaper and it took them 6 months to run it in the ground and finally closed the doors. Watch your checks also they are made of rubber and bouncing was no problem. Beware!
An Lakes Area Advertiser from Antioch Illinois unemployed employee!!!!! Thanks Brandy Williams and Wanda Knight!

this people are some scam artist. you need to watch them closely. they are out to make their pockets fat and leave you behind with no way to get money not even through unemployment. They completely destroyed the paper in Antioch Illinois. They stole money, bounced checks.so many lies you will here from them. then in the middle of the night just up and leave with no explanation. BE AWARE!!!!

I was informed that brandy is issuing letters to his employers. they are all having an official letter of employment.that paper is a joke. they barely publish 50,000 copies if u r lucky. they have a fat lazy sluggish thing for an editor who shcenkler shouts at all the time, a production director who can;t design. the paper looks like a box. shcenkler does not even have a proper virus protection for their office internent much less water for staff.
the rates are all over the place. they are closing doors because akerman no longer in politics and it is the politics that kept the trib running. all the staff look, act and smell like shit. an embarrassment to queens.

As I can see buy the many comments there are many who are not sure of this Brandy Williams and Phoenix Financial Holdings... Well please take all the warnings from those who have posted. They are not who they say they are. They are being looked into by the many agencies because of the fall of a paper that they purchased in Antioch Illinois that had been in business for over 70 yrs. Yes papers are not making it these days but that is not what happened to this paper. Over a 6 month period they drove this paper into the ground. They managed to work the employees against each other with in minutes by creating fear and filling this home town paper with lies. Not only did they not pay for peoples 401 k, medical insurance and bounce thousands of dollars worth of paychecks they did not pay bills nor did they care that they put the employee's and their families through hell. most of the employee's had been there for years. They promised them so things they knew they never intended to keep. The list goes on and on. Raises were given yet the checks bounced over and over. this went on for months. They even close at one point telling staff that they were doing a restructure to improve things. Leaving staff unsure if they had a job to come back to. Once they did open doors back up they were paying a staff yet still had not paid the employees that they had laid off. Brandy Williams and Wanda Knight are not who they say they are. So please take any warnings about them seriously as things will only get worse.

Anonymous said...

Yeah they did all that except when the doors reopened in the Antioch paper for the so called restructure those employees still didn't get paid. They did them very wrong. Promises of getting new staff and pay. Yet all that happened was more bounced checks and lies. It was pure hell. I know cause I was there. People were afraid for the lives because of all the drama they caused.

Anonymous said...

Then why go back after what they did to the rest of the employees your family and friends. I'm sorry those that went back got what they deserved!

Anonymous said...

how can you say they got what they deserved. If you believe in something then you go for it. Being that employee, I believed in the newspaper. As stated before it was in business 73 years. Who would have thought they would shut the door on a great newspaper that people have loved. That was not nice to say. You should not wish bad things on no one regardless of whom they are. Seriously......

Anonymous said...

I agree. Unfortunately, they have caused SO much bitterness and anger that people are just upset. I'm sure that person didn't exactly mean it that way other than they probably felt that no one should have went back because of their lies from day one. We can't be upset with each other, because quite frankly, that's exactly what they wanted from the beginning. They planted lies within lies, pitting each other against one another. I for one, am not giving them the satisfaction! They want to blame everyone but themselves, because as we've all learned, it's ALWAYS someone elses fault! We've all been hurt by them and it's very sad, but we need to put them behind us because they are not worth the time or energy!

They didn't close the doors, they were evicted!
