Crazy Christmas house in Bayside

Courtesy of the Huffington Post:

For the last 17 years, Kevin Lynch has decorated his New York City home with Christmas lights. A classic game of one-upmanship with a neighbor escalated Lynch's yearly ritual into a yearly obsession, and now, well, Lynch might just have the brightest Christmas home in the City.

MyBlockNYC visited Lynch's Bayside, Queens home and made the charming video you see above.

This house inconveniences surrounding homes and neighbors due to the traffic backups and gawkers obstructing the street. Unless the homeowner pays for police to maintain order and direct traffic, creating this type of unnecessary display is a nuisance that should be prohibited.

There is a condition of total anarchy right now, surrounding the lighted house that is the topic of this article. Parked vehicles and inconsiderate/oblivious gawkers have effectively closed the street (23rd Avenue) to through traffic -- apparently without any permit to do so, and without any agency people on the scene to supervise it. This is a neighborhood catastrophe which must be prevented in the future. The homeowner is free to decorate however he wishes -- until he attracts a condition of lawlessness which then curtails my right to travel unimpeded down the street.

does he have OCD? thank God he's retired. and he's getting his son mixed up in this, creating generations, spawning generations of people who overdecorate their homes.

Sorry Buckwheat. Tis the season.

It will be over in a few days. Sorry if it bothered you.

Queens used to be full of tolerant people. Now, well.....

"total anarchy right now"

suspect you have no idea what anarchy is really like. Get out of your little, little world.

Anarchy?
The mayhem on Roosevelt Av; illegal housing; illegal street vendors---- better examples of "anarchy"
whats your position on these?

No holiday is an excuse to impose yourself on a neighborhood, or to incite lawlessness.

This is an inconsiderate homeowner, who goes way overboard with Christmas lights -- knowing full well that it will draw crowds, gawkers, and even vehicles that park in the middle of the road, shutting down the street to normal traffic.

This is done with no regard for the inconvenience caused, least of all to any neighbor. It's a disgrace, that anyone thinks this should be tolerated. Wake up.
