A blast from Douglaston's past

From NY1:

In a nod to Douglaston's historic past, several street names in the neighborhood are being changed back to their original names dating back centuries.

I'm for renaming some of downtown Flushing's streets to reflect realty.

Huang Kong Lane; Donald Manes Place; Stinky Stavisky Street; Sellout Plaza; Taiwan Boulevard; etc.

How nice for them.

I guess all of us taxpayers...living in the less fashionable nabes...
get stuck paying for their prissy new street signs.

Anonymous, that's how life works. You pay taxes, and sometimes the money goes to things you don't want it to. That's modern society for you.

Wish they would do this elsewhere.

I think my family is the only one left on its block in Glendale that still remembers its old given name.

I doubt all the polacks and dominicans moving in care though.

As taxpayers, we pay for what our leaders consider to be a priority, and their priorities lie in what they think will get them re elected.

Guess what... they pay taxes too...and high ones in fact. Not saying the street signs are a good idea, personally i could care less, just saying that your comment was a little ridiculous.

What about the rest of us? My survey lists the old name of my street in Whitestone. May I have it (name) back?

But aren't addresses easier to find with numbered streets?
