Illegal hostel shut down

From Brownstoner:

Earlier this year a tipster told us the big yellow house at 70 Lefferts was operating as a hostel; they've followed up to tell us it has been since vacated. DOB shows a partial vacate order and full stop work order for "illegally converted rooms into transient hostel without providing required means of egress, fire alarm."

Looks like a lovely house. This city is falling victim to a Mayor who has his priorities all screwed up when it comes to quality of life issues. He should have more manpower in the DOB for enforcement of these unsafe, illegal conversions. And shame on the landlords that ruin our neighborhoods.

Does the citation mean if they'd provide Required"Means of Egress" they're OK as a hostel??

I live at the Pavilion Apartments and my apartment is over a crash pad---these people work for United and American Airlines they have no regards for our sleep or private home life. They come in all hours of the day and night and this creates a problem because all we hear are luggues rolling and suitcases slamming on the floor. What we are going to do is by pass our management and go directly to the airlines and file a complaint.
