Why are some of the ducklings differently colored?

Because they were adopted.

A friend of mine in 1970 had to get rid of his 5 ducks. He lived in Woodside and raised ducks in his backyard. The neighbors complained and some governmental authority said the ducks had to go. I helped him cart the ducks early one Spring Saturday morning in boxes over to Central Park in Manhattan. We parked at a meter across from the Plaza Hotel. We looked around to make sure nobody saw us.I hopped over the low wall by the lake and he handed me the boxes. Then he jumped over and the two of us went down to the water's edge. He let the ducks go into the lake. It was a very touching scene as he said good-bye to his birds which he had raised since they were young. His heart was breaking. But they would be better off in a natural environment.

You know what happened next? Every bird in the lake came screeching and squawking over to the ducks and chased them mercilessly around the lake. They were particularly pursued by some vicious geese. This hounding went on for about a half an hour. Back and forth, round and round the lake this bedlam went on. My friend could do nothing but watch. Eventually, the turmoil died down and his 5 ducks assumed a somewhat accepted role in the course of events at the lake.

We hopped back over the wall, got in the car, and went back to Queens. Life goes on.

Aw...did he ever go back to visit them?

Yes, but then he got married and had other things to do.

I love the Mother's day image, when I was a little girl I had a children's book about these birds in Central Park with the ducklings....

Now back to my unhappiness, it is mother's day and I am not a mother....I ovulate in 2 weeks to all single men under 46 and over 37 look out! I would need to be as rich as madonna to raise kids at my age but anyway almost barfed today not from morning sickness but reading Adam Lisberg's butt kissing Blomberg article so walking past the ultimate cool record store in the East Village today and seeing they had posted my king mike bloomberg is democracy for sale no third term, rocked my heart and soul. I added a Tony Avella for mayor and the reason why at the end of youtube.

All the best and thanks,
Suzannah

Suzannah, I read in the National Enquirer* of women in their 60's giving birth! Using new-fangled medical techniques! Just think while the Blessed Event is occurring you can get a hip replacement at the same time.
