Merry Christmas from the MTA!

New cars taking E train out of the 1960s

New York City Transit [Sunday] began rolling out new subway cars on the E line which feature automated announcements, digital information boards and a screen that scrolls upcoming station names.

Other subway lines, including the L and W, already have the cars.

The new subway cars, called R160s, have brighter interiors and a smoother ride. Most of the cars along the line date to the 1960s.

Great, brand new cars for the bums to sleep on and piss all over, on their way to and from Jamaica!

Fairly nice cars made in Japan where they maintain there train and subway system's.Maybe in 50 years we'll have a bullet train to take across the country?

I have an idea. Why don't we keep some of the old cars running, snd make them for bums only? That way, the rest of us don't have to smell them, or watch them pick their donut-sized scabs.

Happy Holidays MTA riders. It's going to cost ya.

I rode one of these and yes, they are bright, and I like the information. But are there fewer seats? They seem more spacious. The key is how they will age, and, I guess, the cost of maintenance. But they are certainly welcome. As for the homeless, I am seeing more in the stations as I travel early in the morn--at Forest Hills and at W4th in Manhattan. A sign of Bloomerville.

I wish. But it's never gonna happen until we saturate the stratosphere with jet fuel.

Why does the MTA let bums ride the subways for free and loiter in the stations? I've even seen a bum with his filthy bum-cart on the E train at Union Turnpike. The car he was in was empty as the stench was unbearable.

I see nothing wrong with the good old R32's. I'll miss the noises they make and their careening motion as they speed on the express tracks under Northern Blvd. They fit much better in the big picture of neglect and decay of the subways.

Whiners, Whiners, Whiners. You finally have something new and improved and betters your quality of life. Crawl back in your hole you ungrateful and shelfish complainers. Always negative---nothing positive from you losers!

Nonsense! I happen to love shellfish.

The E cars have to be some of the oldest in the city. Only line i still see with the old style corrugated metal sides.

Bums-only cars would be most welcome. Attach one R32 to each train of 160s, and offer shopping-cart tie-down straps.
