Thank you for the professionalism and Queens focused news.

Not sure if this will fit within the website but here goes: Woodside, and far too many other locations, have become the go to location to, well go.

 

 

 

We have caught drivers (TLC, Uber, and Lyft), random neighbors who could not make it home (so they said), and just those walking through and couldn't hold it, but when its the city subcontractors exposing themselves, we want to make some noise.

We confronted the workers directly.  We called the Operations manager at their company. We emailed the graphic photos to their info email address.  We sent the same photos to Costa's office and NYPD 114 Community Officer.  We even complained to DOT commissioner Polly. 

Attached are four photos, two graphic, of our plight and lack of assistance in breaking this cycle.  This was a problem before Covid-19 and as more return to work without access to public restrooms, our neighborhood is suffering and we are not going to remain quiet.

let’s take a look at the Austin St. Underpass Walkway, which after months of complaints had the graffiti finally removed only for it to reappear along with garbage and human excrement (CRAP), plus out of control weeds on a public sidewalk right along with garbage dumping. Aftermath of deadly fire is another tragedy

Trash can be seen on the lawn, over the fence and in a tree around the house on 252nd Street in Bellerose.

“We were expecting it to be gone by like soon, and it’s still sitting there,” neighbor Sandra Cyril told Bauman in an exclusive interview.

The home caught fire 10 days ago. Eight firefighters were hospitalized, and the 82-year-old woman living there alone was killed.

“I feel so bad for her. She had no one,” said resident Jacqueline Pilosi. “But it sucks for us, too.”

Pilosi’s house next door is perfectly manicured up to the dividing line on their shared driveway. She spent the last week and a half pleading with the city for help.

“311, when we found out the front room was filled with fecal matter, said we can’t do anything about it, it’s inside private property,” she told Bauman.

The Pilosis said they have been trying to talk to the person who inherited the property from their neighbor, but he lives out of state and hasn’t told them when it will be cleaned up and what’s taking so long.

Creedmoor of concern to local citizens

A Queens community says it has grown impatient with some patients at a famed mental health facility near their neighborhood.

They say incident involving patients range from scary to downright gross.

Matt Kruger told CBS2’s Jessica Borg the scenes he captured in a cellphone video are the reason he’s moving out of Glen Oaks.

“No one wants to see someone’s pants down to their ankles, in broad daylight, then going to the bathroom in the middle of the street,” he said.

He showed Borg the video – too graphic for TV – that showed a man doing just that right around the corner from his home.

“It’s inappropriate,” he said. “There’s kids, there’s families.”

Aggressive panhandling is also a growing concern for neighbors of a shopping plaza on Union Turnpike.

A new low, even for Queens

First subway shit stink of the new year

"It is just a few days into 2016 and yesterday, Jan., 11th. marks the first shit case. Passengers were standing on a packed platform; while others occupied two nearby benches, at Roosevelt Avenue station in Queens.

Suddenly, a shitty scent filled the atmosphere. A man full of shit was approaching. Passengers had to move away as fast as possible; in search of clean air. The shitty individual calmly walked and made a brief stop at the garbage bin in search of food. Passengers made a quick get-away as the E train pulled into the station.

This is happening in Queens; the world's borough according to Katz, the borough president. This is what passengers have to endure; time and time again.

Madam Katz, can you please send a letter to MTA boss, Tom Prendergast on this filthy matter. This condition is a health hazard and it is depressing.

In addition madam Katz, can you contact Mayor de Blasio. The homeless man needs to be taken to one of De Blasio's "drop in center." He is in dire need of a bath, food etc.

Velazquez, you are the counsel for Katz, Boranian, you are the liaison. Please make certain that your boss gets this message. Councilman Miller you are equally responsible for assisting in a resolution."

Stink central

While many straphangers are heading to work in the Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer E train station at rush hour, many others have no place to be. They're homeless, spending their time on the subway cars and platforms, and in the bathrooms.

"People are bathing in there with buckets," said one rider. "It's horrible."

On this particular morning, every train we saw had homeless people on it. Others who ride the trains say it's affecting their quality of life, that they can't ride in some cars because of conditions there.

"Some mornings, we have to run from one train car to the next train car," said one rider. "And what is so bad is that they take up four and five cars."

"They lay out on the cars. They do their business. They have a high smell odor," said another. "It's very unhealthy."

We can show you what it looks like, but we can't show you what it smells like. We can only tell you that the stench is indescribable.

...a subway cleaner who spoke to NY1 off camera said that he's witnessed a number of violations, including "a lot of the homeless defecating, urinating in the car on the seats, right there on the floor. They just drop their pants and just do what they got to do, and you know, you got to deal with that."

Homeless cause havoc in Briarwood

A Briarwood church has grown frustrated with an ongoing problem facing the property.

For seven years, the Victoria Congregational Church at 144-64 87 Ave. has been having issues with inebriated individuals at all times of day and night sleeping and consuming alcohol on a ramp that acts as one of the main entrances to the church and in front of the parsonage’s primary entrance door located next to the church.

The Rev. Mark Marsh, pastor of the Victoria Congregational Church, has reached out to Capt. Frederick Grover, the commanding officer of the 107th Precinct in Flushing, in an effort to solve the issue, but little to no action has been taken.

“We need patrols but not only that, we need the officers to get out of the car and walk onto the property,” Marsh said. “Normally they just drive through.”

The times when Marsh had called 911, police officers did not show up at all or almost 45 minutes after the initial call was made.

One time, Marsh had to wait over an hour to go home because the exit was blocked. He called 911 but the police did not respond even though the operator knew an inebriated individual had a brick in his hand and threatened to throw it at Marsh.

Though the individuals have become a nuisance, Marsh said he is not looking to harm anyone.

“What we noticed is that the same people that were here in 2006 are still using the ramp today,” he said. “We’ve talked to the precinct about maybe having some program that the police could put them through to help them.”

According to Marsh, the church is not allowed to contact a social agency to remove the drunken individuals.

“The police are the only ones allowed to contact them and request their help,” he said. “The only way we would be able to get a social agency involved is if we go up to the individuals and ask if they would like us to take them to a facility but if they say no, there is nothing we can do to force them.”

Marsh said that the church has had to call three ambulances in the past month and has found old carpets, trash and even feces at the top of the ramp.

I wonder what Samaritan Village is planning to do about this since it is most likely their drunken residents who are peeing and shitting all over the place when they miss curfew and get locked out. If they want approval to open a homeless shelter in Glendale, they probably should clean up their act in Briarwood first.

Sunday walk in Jamaica

A Jamaica Sunday morning walk just a few blocks to they new and very clean Blink gym revealed another "Jamaica Revealed", the other side. Of course the "Jamaica Revealed" refers to the event that was held on April 19th which was about the development going on in Jamaica and a way to attract business owners to our community. Well these photos reveal the other Jamaica, the reality Jamaica that needs to be addressed, otherwise we will have problems attracting quality people and businesses to our area. Jamaica is definitely a "Tale of Two Cities", what the quality and visionary people here want and then the actual reality caused by many of our low class residents and poor leadership. Here are a few highlights of this dark side trip that was only a few blocks.








1.Empty Lot at 169-23 90th Ave. Problematic vacant lot, which is more problematic on the outside than the inside. Besides people dumping litter, the weeds are growing high on the sidewalks making it more attractive for people to dump because you cannot always see underneath, dog shit here all the time and the broken uneven sidewalk that I have reported three times to the Department of Buildings beginning before Hurricane Sandy. This is next to my co-op and I am always cleaning this up, but decided not to clean up for at least 2 weeks to show what happens when you do nothing. Just get the damn asshole low class scumbag owner out here.





2. Low class problematic apartment building at 89-19 and 89-17 170th St across from me. I have been calling in this place to sanitation on a weekly basis, but the owners still do not properly store their garbage. Again get this scumbag slumlord owner out here.




3. Executive Arms: Nice name for a low class apartment building at 88-15 168th Pl. On the back/side of building at the corner of 168th Pl & 89th Avenue where the garbage is stored, the photos show so many violations from broken bags to various garbage all over which are a health risk and attracts all kinds of rodents...................and low class people who feel right at home with this kind of shit. It is one thing if you could not see this mess, but this can be viewed from the sidewalk.





4. Moving right along on 89th Ave Skid Row tour. Apartment building at 168-07 89th Ave has cleaned up their garbage containers in the front, but the side of the building is a rodent's dream.


5. House at 168-17 89th Ave. Improper storage of garbage which attracts rodents. Funny, this was the same individual who complained to NY1 about his next door neighbor's garbage mess in the backyard which he said caused rats to come into his house. Ah, maybe the rats are coming from your improper storage of garbage in your own place. People who live in glass houses shouldn't thrown stones.......... or should I say garbage.



6. Front of vacant lot at 170-19 89th Ave which I have complained to Sanitation so many times, yet it is still a dumping ground.







7. 165th Street shopping area off of Jamaica Avenue plus Jamaica Avenue itself. This was an eyesore Sunday morning at 9am. Now this is no reflection whatsoever on the 165th St Mall Improvement, Jamaica BID or Sutphin BID, because they are doing an amazing job. And after the gym I walked through here and the 165th Mall Improvement people were already on this situation and cleaning it up as the one photo shows. This is a reflection on the low class scumbag residents that we have and our elected officials who are not coming up with a solid action plan to combat this problem.

I just do not get this. 125th Street in Harlem does not look anything like this, it is not perfect, but nowhere in this condition. I have walked there on an early Sunday morning and have never seen what I see here in Jamaica and 125th Street has way more foot traffic than Jamaica Avenue, so why such a difference. Could it be that the people of Harlem actually have some pride in their community, something that is sorely lacking with the bunch here in Jamaica.

And talk about potential, the cobblestone street of 165th could be an unbelievable destination place with nice retail, nice outdoor cafes and restaurants instead of the many low class shit hole businesses that litter that area. I guess this shit just reflects our community. I mean you can still keep the urban flair but add cafes and nice retail into that mix. This could really be an anchor in Jamaica that would not only be a place for the quality middle class here in Jamaica but also a destination stop for people outside the area. Instead right now it is just a mess of mostly low class stores that just attract low class people and all their garbage that they bring with them.

These photos do not say "Invest in Jamaica", they say "Danger ahead, turn around and get the f*ck out of here as fast as you can." I mean if this sh*t is not low class ghetto behavior, I certainly do not know what is.

Now would the true leaders and visionaries of Jamaica please stand-up and raiser your hands. Okay, I did not think so. We will try again later. Class dismissed.

Woman's apartment overrun with mice

While she wipes away tears, Jenny Borrero of Richmond Hill tells of the horror of having mice take over home.

“There are traps behind the stove; there is bait behind the stove; there are traps for mice everywhere in my bedroom everywhere,” Borrero said.

Mice droppings can be found in her living room. The critters are even scampering through her food.

It’s “a tribe of mice I am catching, five or six a day,” she said. “I have bins of food … in my kitchen. You keep them in bins so the mice don’t get in there. I threw out $500 worth of food,” she said.

The superintendent of the building at 87-57 108th Street had no words of comfort for Borrero.

“I don’t know what to say, the exterminator comes,” he said, shrugging his shoulders. “Whatever I am supposed to do I do,” he said.

The owner of the building said Borerro is the only person complaining in the entire building. He says the building is well kept and that he’s doing everything he can to combat the rodent problem.

Horse riding school subject of complaints

In the midst of oppressive heat, a Queens neighborhood with a quaint view of horses has become overwhelmed by the smell of them.

Lynne’s Riding School in Forest Hills is a little stable tucked into a corner of the big city. They have been offering lessons for 65 years, but, lately, the old stable has been the subject of complaints from newer neighbors.

Weird goings-on at Lou Lodati Park

If you’re looking for a park to bring the family, then Lou Lodati Park is not for you.

The park, located on Skillman Ave. (between 42nd and 43rd), is the home to drunks, those who urinate under trees or expose themselves in front of people. Many residents have been complaining about these issues for years—from public defecation to gambling on soccer/volleyball games.

These events occur even when the public toilets are open, which are about 100 meters from the trees.
