Hotel homeless shelters are back big time

NY Post

City officials are urgently seeking another 5,000 rooms in Big Apple hotels to house migrants bound for New York City from the southern border, The Post has learned.

There is no price tag attached to the request that was released Wednesday, which was made under the emergency contracting powers invoked by Mayor Eric Adams when the migrant crisis first began in the city.

It marks a dramatic expansion of the city’s efforts to secure temporary housing for the recent arrivals, sources say.

The Department of Homeless Services had previously asked nonprofit social service providers to send in proposals to rent rooms and provide aid for 600 families set to be housed in a luxury Midtown hotel, the Row NYC on 8th Avenue.

The new request for providers to secure thousands of rooms in hotels across the city is in addition to that, city officials confirmed.

And it would come on top of the estimated 200 already secured and providing housing for families at the Skyline Hotel on 10th Avenue.

If fully implemented, it would bring the number of hotel rooms rented for migrants in the city shelter system up to nearly 6,000.

City Hall estimates that more than 4,000 migrants, many of whom are seeking asylum, have arrived in the five boroughs in recent weeks — and have become the subject of a high-profile feud between Hizzoner and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

Adams accused Abbott and the Arizona governor of shipping the migrants to New York without telling local officials, claims that both denied at the time.

However, Abbott said he was shipping migrants to the East Coast cities in protest of President Biden’s “willful ignorance” regarding the border crisis.

Migrants have papers and work visa's, unless we are talking about birds or breeds of insects these people are trespassing and broke many laws to do so.

Migrants is a bullshit term, unless your are "Legal Migrant Workers"
These are illegal aliens breaking into our country!

All red states are going to start shipping their problem people to New York just like Castro did with his trash only it not 100 thousand who could at least read and write. This time ITs MILLIONS. Its going to bankrupt the city.
Remember, unlike Cubans these are completely illiterate people that can not read or write in their native languages and will need to be on welfare for life.
You cant teach them anything because most don't even speak Spanish, they speak these tribal dialects from the hills & mountains from which most come.

The USA will be turned into the same bankrupt 3rd world country's of crime and violence from which they come and created.

Free condoms for the whole planet should solve the issue.

A lot of people are bent out of shape that laws and customs allegedly steer non-white people away from white communities (although it's interesting that no discussion is even attempted on doing something about the reverse - making non-white communities suitable for white people.

Rather ironic since wealthy white people are now the cornerstone of the Democratic Party. So, by all means, the newly arrived should be steered directly to wealthy white communities whose residents should be, by the same token, steered into communities of immigrants and color.

Success in both areas should be a very active stated goal of the Democratic Party.

I dont blame Abbott for sending the illegals to other places.

They are eager to get current shelter residents into apartments ASAP like they are expecting a big influx soon. They threaten to evict those who do not accept offered apartments.

NY is now a dystopian wasteland.

Meanwhile innocent people are being pummeled and dying on the streets and then the attackers are released with no bail. Priorities?

@“ Meanwhile innocent people are being pummeled and dying on the streets”
I totally agree. Mindless murders by car totalitarians on pedestrians and cyclists are going unpunished.

Dasani, Is that you?
That DHS Client Responsibility PDF is dated 2009. Nothing that applies to Americans applies to the Illegal Alien Shock Troops.

Dasani was the poster child for the homeless children of extremely irresponsible crack smoking abusive parents. It was a series in the NY Times. Why those horrible parents were able to reproduce on every tax payers dime and weren't arrested for their crimes, is a mystery. I think Dasani is now living a life of crime, robbing old ladies late at night on the A Train.
Letitia James used Dasani in many of her press photos and conferences.

Where is my affordable apartment and Section 8 voucher? No illegal alien housed, given a free apartment, until all Americans and US Veterans are housed in decent apartments . Can't wait for the ungrateful illegal aliens to start complaining about the free apartments.

Send them all back to Venezuela. Or how about Cuba? I hear it's nice there.

Call Assistant Commissioner of Immigrant Affairs Erick Salgado and ask why homeless New Yorkers who live here are not treated better first !

It is heartwarming to see and know that Governor Abbott is sharing the wealth with other cities. He is a generous man. Adams should be thanking him for his generosity.

We have an affordable housing crisis in NYC. Each illegal arriving here makes the situation even worse. But nobody seems to care.
