Mayor Adams and the Department of Social Services covered up violations at shelters housing migrant families arrivals and fires official who tried to warn them

NBC New York

Several sources tell News 4 that staff at the Department of Social Services, including the agency's legal team, were angry after being instructed to hold off on telling City Hall, and not promptly notify the Legal Aid Society, as has been past protocol.

City officials acknowledge there was a delay in disclosing the violations, but they say top officials at the Department of Social Services including the Commissioner were unaware that they are legally obligated not to house families overnight in their intake office. This, despite the fact that a report is sent out each morning at 4am to notify social services managers of any violations.

The chief spokesperson for New York City's Department of Homeless Services was fired Friday after pushing back against alleged lies and omissions by her boss regarding illegal conditions in the city's homeless shelter system, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Email and text messages provided to the News 4 I-Team suggest that the Deputy Commissioner for Public Information Julia Savel had resisted efforts by Social Services Commissioner Gary Jenkins to conceal crowded conditions in the city's homeless shelter system from his superiors at City Hall, from the media and from the public.

In one text message dated July 20, Savel indicated to a City Hall spokeswoman that she was planning to inquire about moving to a different agency, saying "Just can't work for a commish who is ok with covering up something illegal."

Staff at the Department of Homeless Services say they learned on July 18 that families with children had been forced to stay overnight in the city's homeless intake office in the Bronx, known as PATH  — a practice that is prohibited under a 2008 court settlement between the City and the Legal Aid Society, which represents people living in shelter.

The text messages imply that Savel gave City Hall a heads up the next day, on July 19. That same day, Mayor Adams announced NYC needed federal funding to help with a surge of 2,800 asylum seekers who had entered the shelter system in recent weeks. But the mayor did not specifically mention any legal violations or families sleeping in the intake office.

Later that week Adams said he did not learn the city had violated its "right to shelter mandate" until July 20.

Several sources tell News 4 that staff at the Department of Social Services, including the agency's legal team, were angry after being instructed to hold off on telling City Hall, and not promptly notify the Legal Aid Society, as has been past protocol.

Suddenly, Stephen Banks doesn't look that bad now.

What a crock of shit and corruption.
First off when did these useless lifetimes of welfare criminals migrate or immigrate?

They friggan jumped over a fence or swam a river breaking dozens of local and federal laws in the process. Most cant read or write, will never learn English or amount to anything aside being a locust on the taxpayer tits.
These people also breed like cockroaches, huge familys, 8 to a room no problem. The average Central American female has 3 kids by age 20, fathers are usually no good drunks or unknown !
Go into any bodega Friday between 3 and 5 PM and see these illegal day construction and sheet rock hangers already piss drunk wobbling and buying MORE MODELO beer!!
Ffff these people ship them home, our people come first!!

Meanwhile some Vet who served this country, paid his taxes and dues is sleeping in the park or subway with a wooden leg, rats, water bugs and shopping cart!!

Migrants use charity cash to flee NYC when they can’t get into shelter

https://nypost.com/2022/08/11/migrants-use-charity-cash-to-flee-nyc-when-they-cant-get-into-shelter/

The city’s shelter system is too dysfunctional for these migrants!

Four asylum-seekers who braved trekking to the US-Mexico border — and across it — got so fed up waiting for beds in New York City that they used charity money to get out and head to Washington, DC, The Post has learned.

The unidentified men arrived in the Big Apple within the past three weeks and went to the city-run Bellevue Men’s Shelter, which also serves as an intake center for the Department of Homeless Services, sources said.

“They were either turned away or confused by the situation because there were a lot of people waiting for intake that day,” a source said.

The men — who don’t speak English — returned to the shelter “a few times” during about two and a half days in the city, but “ultimately they decided to go to Washington,” the source said.

They’d spent a night in the nation’s capital while traveling to New York and they used $50 gift cards they received from Catholic Charities to pay for their bus fares back there, the source said.

The Post exclusively reported this week that City Hall was scrambling to open a dedicated intake center for migrants with enough room to house 600 families in Midtown by Monday.

Exposing the NYC corrupt Crap.

ive more bike lanes for TA commie, do congestion pricing for Lord Bloomberg.

A:
I live on City Island now, three of my neighbors are cops, all TREE claim a high rank member of his security detail is the boyfriend. ---also a member from some Queens gang, with a "possible" long rap sheet BTW. Sealed records?
Two of the 3 cops are also throwing in their badges, the 3rd must wait 9 more months, he put in for being a cop in Suffolk county Long Island. $120K a year start pay.

This "dyslexia"causes the mayors bad speech is also bullshit, dyslexia doesn't cause a person to ghetto speak, keep criminals loose and place cops in handcuffs and baskets. Stupidity does, just like our voters.
O'Boy did New Yorker's get what they asked for with this piece of shit, Adams makes Willie Wilhiem look like Wernher Von Braun.
People better vote the right way and get this shit governor out or years of double whammy leadership up the in ass to come!!

Several points regarding these migrants.

1) Many of them, probably most, have relatives in here in No. America. Many of these people didn’t want to come to NYC, that degenerate in tx sent them here for political reasons. They’d be better served with bus or train tickets to the city that was their intended destination.

2) For those intending to stay here, there are multiple opportunities for employment. There is an acute shortage of workers in the unskilled and semi-skilled service sector. The best way to help these people and get them off city services is to set up temporary places in each borough where employers can meet, interview and hire them.

I am in the restaurant industry for 37 years and have never seen anything like the current shortage of workers as we have seen over the last 16 months. Many former workers went back to their countries during the height of the pandemic, others drifted in other jobs while the restaurants were closed. Many of our people came back, but some became Uber and Lyft drivers or went into construction trades with the building boom going on.

My bottom line here, don’t overdo the services to these folks, just help connect them with jobs and the market will do the rest.

Of course Jenkins was lying. Of course. He must be married to the Jenkins who heads up the HRA/Medicaid Unit. HRA is all about nepotism and promoting any black Caribbean to a higher position/salary even if they drink on the job every day.

Rob, first off they are not migrant workers !!

2- Why are you using these fence jumpers to work with food and wash dishes?
They have no health certification cards, inoculations and many have or are carry diseases & parasites that US citizens have no resistance, no boosters for things like TB (irradiated in this country over 50 years ago)included.
These feral bush people coming out of the jungles of Guatemala, Hondorus, Costa, and Mexico are asymptomatic to all kinds of nasty shit, you could kill somebody.
Do you want to give some dining family intestinal worms, scabies, etc.
Have you ever heard of Typhoid Mary?

How do you pay their taxes if they have no social security numbers or work visa ?
You restaurant people suck, I hope you all go out of business and take you shanty's with you.
I hope you end up in jail, get sued when you kill somebody. Your lucks gonna run out.
You dam bar and restaurant owners are always complaining perpetually no matter what the annual gross "not making enough money sorry NO RAISE" and never want to pay a fair wage, that's why you cant keep workers.
You wanna pay some desperate illegal $100 for 12 hours work who cant complain, beat paying insurance & FICA taxes, that's your problem.
Some call it pimping, abusing, cheating the IRS, whoring out for profit.
All of you dam greedy restaurant & Bar owners Manhattan to Montauk!

Stop bull shitting us !!!

PS: I have friends who own bars & restaurants. After seeing the kitchens and basements behind the swinging door I will not eat anything after seeing such filth, Every single one of them -NO WAY, Nobody would if they only saw what goes on!

Rob's thinking is one of the problems fueling illegal immigration and return of dangerous disease.
This is like inviting vampires into your home (then good luck getting them out)
All restaurants should be immediately shut down until they can prove every employee is on the books, legal with a valid health card.
These bastard restaurant people in the Hampton's all use use illegals in the kitchens and have 4 million dollar condos in Manhattan or Brooklyn. Both east end North and South forks have been ruined by illegals and the extended family's, wives hoards of kids they brought in. Schools overloaded, 16 year old males in classrooms with 2nd graders and raping 6th graders after school.
--No English, No skills, no temperament to learn anything in school, just Wait till they get into selling drugs and committing crime for money.

The children and wives of these people must remain in Mexico until the so called "migrant" can prove he can support them. This country can not afford whats gonna happen let alone housing and education issues !!

Rob in Manhattan blathers on like a typical virtue-drunk Progtard.

"Many of them, probably most, have relatives in here in No. America."

First, you're just making that up. Second, their relatives probably don't want them either.

"Many of these people didn’t want to come to NYC, that degenerate in tx sent them here for political reasons."

Ohhh, the "degenerate" in Texas, says the NYC Progtard degenerate. Well, those people certainly wanted to come to America. So they're here now!

"They’d be better served with bus or train tickets to the city that was their intended destination."

They don't HAVE an intended destination you dolt, other than crossing the border and getting their bite of the American corpse. Why do you think Biden is secretly flying them to cities all across the country?

"For those intending to stay here, there are multiple opportunities for employment."

Total nonsense. How much need is there for illiterate, low IQ stoop labor? You're too stupid to know that a lot of these people don't even speak Spanish. They speak various local dialects.

"There is an acute shortage of workers in the unskilled and semi-skilled service sector."

There is an acute shortage of businesses willing to pay a proper wage. Including you.

"The best way to help these people and get them off city services is to set up temporary places in each borough where employers can meet, interview and hire them."

You mean standing around at Home Depot isn't enough?

"I am in the restaurant industry for 37 years and have never seen anything like the current shortage of workers as we have seen over the last 16 months."

Pay more. I hear every restaurant owner whining about this. Yet I have yet to go to a restaurant where it seems to be a problem.

"Many former workers went back to their countries during the height of the pandemic"

Thank god. The one good thing to come from that utterly fake "pandemic."

"others drifted in other jobs while the restaurants were closed."

Or just lived off the handouts.

"Many of our people came back, but some became Uber and Lyft drivers or went into construction trades with the building boom going on."

Hmmmm, why did they go into construction? Oh, to MAKE MORE because you cheap bastards in the restaurant business won't pay them.

"My bottom line here, don’t overdo the services to these folks, just help connect them with jobs and the market will do the rest."

Well we can certainly agree on not overdoing the services. As for the job market, we are already flooded with people doing nothing at all. But your solution is to happily welcome in more. It's really true that Progressives have no idea how the world works.

Some people believe years ago the Democrats instituted a long-term plan to gradually turn the U.S. into a Third World nation. The country would become poorer and less free, but Democrats would have an unbeatable majority. Looks like their plan is working in the Democrat-run cities. They don't want a scientist from Norway to immigrant, they want the brother-in-law of some out of work South American with no skills and no education. They don't want businesses to thrive, they want empty store-fronts and empty office buildings so they can implement the U.N.'s Agenda 21. Do NOT vote for anyone who promotes Agenda 21.
