The de Blasio administration still hasn’t spent $8.1 billion in federal funds for Hurricane Sandy recovery six years after the storm — including $1.8 billion for NYCHA, according to a new report by city Comptroller Scott Stringer.

The city has used up just 54 percent of a total $14.7 billion allocated for infrastructure, homeowner recovery and resiliency projects.

Only 41 percent targeted for the New York City Housing Authority has been spent.

“All the talk of a monitor, all the NYCHA investigations from lead to boilers, there’s a pot of money, $3 billion, and NYCHA and City Hall could only allocate 41 percent! This is the tragedy of this moment,” Stringer said.

The tragedy is that this money was taken from those of us who pay taxes. There wasn't a good plan to use it when it was taken years ago, and there isn't a good plan now. And-- and-- we the tax payers won't get it back. So it will just sit there as a slush fund for the crook politicians for years to come.

DeBlasio and co NOT spending money? That's unusual.

True! The money was apparently taken when it wasn't needed. The federal government, FEMA and the nation's insurance companies are all in cahoots and designating many areas across the nation as flood zones when they are not. They are doing this on the false premise that too many homeowners are building and living in flood zones, when they are not. This is to prop up the industry for loses that have taken in places that are in real flood zones, like New Orleans, etc. I would say give the money back, but then the feds would just flush it down another toilet. It is why the U.S. is trillions of dollars in debt. One day soon the pigeons will come home to roost.

Look at the garbage that works at Build it Back. They're hired by Manpower.
They do no work, order in huge meals, sit around and chat and is no way Build it Back a diverse workplace. People who were in the hurricane can't get jobs there But the illegal alien from Nigeria can be a security guard with a taser to protect Build it Back from American citizens and home owners.

Give me some of that left over money. I was in the hurricane.

I remember dick head NYers complaining that the feds weren’t moving quick enough with the funds after Sandy.

Well it was for good reason. Why would any sensible person send billions to a bunch of corrupt MF’ers that run this town
