Homeless taking over Penn Station

From CBS:

Commuters say the homeless situation underground at Penn Station has grown out of control, and with cooler temperatures on their way, they expect to see even more move in.

CBS2’s Hazel Sanchez demanded answers Monday from city, state, and railroad officials.

CBS2 has found Penn Station has become a very popular homeless haven — and many commuters said they want to know how the situation has been allowed seemingly to spiral out of control.

Spiral out of control..................that is NYC's motto.

They all need to be rounded up and shipped to Duh Blazio's and Al Sharpton's homes. I'm sure they can solve the problem.

Why don't they build shelters in the stations or is that an absurd question?

Also, since one of the unfortunate in that piece stated, why don't the other states have adequate shelters so they don't come here?

Even Benito Giuliani wouldn't be able to handle the amount of homeless people that have tripled in the past 5 years thanks to cruel decisions by the previous mayor and the obliviousness of the current.

They are just waiting for a bus...

Or convert these stations to shelters, then the homeless will avoid them.

One way bus tickets to cities with abundant abandoned housing stock.

NYC can't do this shit. It just can't.

I'd better get some of my handlers over to Penn Station and give these folks some pre-filled Democratic Party voter registration forms!

In fact, I'll give each homeless person 5 forms!

Vote early, and vote often!

Never let a crisis go to waste!

Can you say "RIGHT TO SHELTER"???

You know it takes time to get onto permanent disability and SSDI.

Either way - YOU PAY...

I rode the E train in the early AM with a group of homeless folks strategizing their day....get to St Francis early to get the best sandwiches, work on their benefit paperwork in preparation for meeting with caseworker, some were going to go to one part of Penn Station where they could hang out without getting arrested, others would go to another part of Penn Station where they had a good shot at getting arrested intentionally so they could spend the night in jail...it was the oddest strategy session I ever overheard!

And among the homeless might be some undercover terrorists.
Penn is loaded with state cops , NYLD, Amtrak cops, national guard.
Why spend the money guarding who or what if "homeless" , God forbid, terrorist's among them , are so abundant?

They would never allow this mess at landmarked Grand Central Station.

Mayor Fugazio should start sheltering the homeless in all the spare bedrooms of the folks that live in Queens. If you don't have a spare bedroom, then in your basement.

I dunno, I don't work in Manhattan anymore, but when I was just a few years back, I noticed a lot more homeless in Grand Central. All evenly spaced out too, each had their own little area at night.

nothing new here honestly. smelly and gross, but nothing new sadly.

There's a hell of a lot more homeless in Penn than Grand Central.

it's not just Penn Station. There are other stations this article failed to mention: 42nd Street Times Square, Union Square, 66th Street Lincoln Center, 72nd Street, West 4th Street, Sutphin Blvd Archer Avenue JFK air train station, 61st Woodside Avenue. Basically 1/3 of the system is plagued by this. it's sad because it could be you one day but something seriously needs to be done. STOP VOTING FOR PROGRESSIVES!! In all fairness NYC is not Detroit...

The Grand Central answer is simple-- it closes-- to everyone-- at 130AM, I believe. Always has. Everyone-- rich, poor, homeless, asian, green, purple, LGBT, must leave the building, and are not allowed back in until 5AM. So the homeless do not settle there for the night because they would have to move too much. Penn, by contrast, is open and runs 24/7/365, since the minute it opened in 1910. It never closes and is never emptied.

MIKE, Bensonhurst, BKLYN

I say put them all on greyhound bus and drop them off in front of the DiBlasio house. They have a 3 story house so i'm sure theres room for them...
