More details about Bayside house party gone wrong
From CBS New York:
A man and woman were arrested in front of the home later that day, but it was unclear as to why they were taken in, CBS2’s Matt Kozar reported. Neighbors said the woman lives at the home with her mother.
From the Daily News:
A man who gave his name as Joel said he rented the home out for the night on Airbnb and posted an invite on Instagram to the 9 p.m. birthday party.
Neighbor Lori Somekh, 56, said the “mob” of young people overran the neighborhood.
“You give kids alcohol and a gun and bad things happen,” said Somekh. “I always think weird things happen in the house. I’m always creeped out.”
Frankie Marchione, 20, was at the party and said most of the festivities were in the basement — where the shooting occurred.
People paid between $15 and $25 to get in, he said. Alcohol was served on the first floor of the house — but only those 21 and older got to go upstairs from the basement.

This is not an airbnb issue.
The whole "rave" thing , flash mob, and social media thing - People look at it as a quick buck.
You are allowed to have guests at your house.
We do not need more laws!
Enforce what is on the books!
Minors with alcohol
Felons with guns
Illegal drugs
Illegal parking
Public intoxication
Public urination
DWI
Noise ordinances
The problem is by the time they figure out what is going on, it is over.
If they are letting anybody in with a twenty spot, how about a few undercovers.
All they need to do is follow social media.
Just like with any business, when you have bad reviews the business usually suffers and dies a natural death.
When you have people getting shot and locked up at your parties, IMHO, it is really bad for business...
Bayside Gables may want to look at that private security firm with which they have their contract. There wasn't a single 311 complaint made for noise or disturbance...and didn't the company notice the party? Where did everyone park??
Anon: You are allowed to have guests at your house.
---------------------
When one charges to come into your home that person is not considered a guess and then it comes down to running a business out of a residence. Not legal.
You are allowed to have guests at your house.
Define guests!
Complete strangers are not guests.
Sounds more like a club to me, they will need a license, security and apparently metal detectors.
Seems the organizers broke lots of laws.
Even if nobody got hurt, is this OK?
Obviously the owners of the home cannot afford their house so they look for ways to earn money.
Maybe their desires were bigger than their bankroll. The Bayside naysayers are waking up to reality.
Crime....big crime...has come to their doorstep.

It certainly IS an Air B&B issue.
You've got to be an air head to open up your home to strangers.
It also sounds like the homeowner might be on crystal meth or something to allow this.
Hmmmmm....and in The Gables.
A lot of goombahs around Malba Beechurst Bayside.
Let's see what Paul Vallone will do.
LOL! Don't hold your breath waiting for Vallone to do anything that doesn't earn him a kickback from the real estate industry.
Mom was smart, had daughter arrested, now she can claim the daughter committed a crime and fight the insurance company and law suits coming,it's a bandade but it will work, unauthorized use of premises, like when your kid takes the car for a ride and has an accident
Jonny didn't steal the car he just used poor judgment
This mom lawyered up Fast,lol
One must have a liquor license to charge and serve....
Anonymous...love your research on the companies operating out of that address. Hope the NYPD has the info, too.
They even arrested Fluffy the dog,
I am shocked, the 111pct actually showed up? A day late but still I'm impressed.

Oh NO.
The party was BYOB ;-)
Bring your own booze!
There was no entrance fee, it was just a suggested donation...
Scary Stuff!
TimesLedger article said that one bedroom was rented to a woman and second bedroom rented 2 two guys who held the birthday party.
They can slice it and dice it.
Regardless who rented what, the owner is responsible.
They can lawyer up, but it will be decided by juries and judges.
I knew that it was a HOUSE PARTY SCENE. pay cash for entry. Liquor sales with out a licenses. bring in the State Liquor Authority.
yes, you are allowed to have guests in your home but when you charge those guests and sell them drugs and alcohol then it's a problem. I guess it would have continued but someone got hurt.
I've lived in bayside for 30 years and I have seen a lot of shit go down. They just claim that nothing bad ever happens here just to keep the value of the neighborhood up! I had drug dealers living up the block from me pretty much my entire life! Many years ago they had dogs sniffing the property looking for drugs and they found drugs hidden in the children's toys! I've also seen this one guy slash his sisters boyfriend with a butcher knife years ago, I've seen prostitution rings all over the place, I have seen young kids who were drug dealers and users living all over the neighborhood. ....shit goes down in bayside but it's just never heard about on the news! You really have to live here and know the neighborhood to know anything about what goes on here!
I didn't think you charge "guests in your home" an admission cover charge. Sounds like a business to me.
"organizers hired rented security guards"
Is there any verification of this, I'm calling bullshit on that. HaaHaa more like having the Hell's Angels provide "security" at rolling stones concert at Altamount speedway in the 60s.
I been unknowingly brought to one of these gang run "operations" out in California some years ago.
Id say the "rented security guards" (door people) collecting the $$ and possible scanning the ID of these dumb kids were part of the organized gang that orchestrated this "popup happening" They are likely are the ones who "dropped the dime" (or even shot) the 2 guys leaving. Door people usually scan kids ID for names and addresses so you none of them kids (including the daughter) are gonna talk, that's how these gangs operating these popup drug, booze and prostitution operations usually work. Sometimes its just gambling, last minute text messages of the address are sent out to "member of the club recipients" to bring trusted friends and 200 people suddenly show up.
If this is true (and I believe this is what happened) Let see how long it takes the jackass mayor and cops HE HAS PLACED IN THE HANDCUFFs to figure this one out.
I agree with everything above, and especially the "Jack Ass" Mayor part.
How would anyone hear the party over the NextGen flight route called TNNIS?
